He's so fast on the transitions. I don't think anyone sets up their takedowns as well as him.

Yes that right hook to double leg in the first ten seconds vs burns was pure wizardry. I also found that entry vs Li insane, btw. Problem is that this style consumes a shitton of gaz. It's like Khabib but is less efficient even if looks nicer. He's so fast on the transitions. I don't think anyone sets up their takedowns as well as him.

Islam is MUCH less explosive and relies more on off balancing than on physicality. Khamzat is a fuckin animal.Islam has similar setups, the only thing is we've only really seen him do it twice. Once against Hooker in which he was succesful, and the other against Tibau who he knocked out with the punch he was setting up the takedown with.

Hard to tell with the angle of the Gif but you can see he reaches for the leg afterwards.

A lot of them were just to stop pressure and force a reset. That disappointed me with Aljo. His chain-grappling was nice but the TD attempts themselves were completely naked and sloppy. Should've put something in front of those.
For sure, Khamzat is better off fighting like this.
He was murdering Burns on the ground. It wasn't even close.
He could've easily defeated Burns, and probably got 4 to 5 takedowns per round, had he fought more intelligently.
He got caught up in the "brawling moment," and let Burns into the fight.
That fight was a ridiculous pace, entertaining as hell, but strategically very poor.
If you love his transitions, let me introduce you to GSP, a GOAT known for this.![]()
He gassed hard against Hermansson in the second frame. He took Gilbert down what a minute in to the fight? I’m sure he could follow that gameplan all day if he really wanted to

I don t think so. My theory is that he found out that Burns was very heavy to play with on the ground, too strong, or he felt he was putting himself in danger there. He took Gilbert down what a minute in to the fight? I’m sure he could follow that gameplan all day if he really wanted to
