Anyone else lose self discipline when it comes to food as they get older?

Man I keep eating shit food and regretting it after. Then I keep doing it again and again. I've always eaten pretty well. I never used to crave junk food but recently I have been and I'm starting to feel the effects of it. This has never been a problem in the past. Is this an age thing? (I'm 34)

Ya then my dr told me I’m skinny fat with pre diabetes. Scared me hard and I quit all sodas and fried chicken.

Nah I’m the opposite, my diet is getting better. When I was younger I could eat whatever I wanted but now I need to be more disciplined or I put on weight.

Nope, I stop eating fast foods since 25 or so. I eat Mcdonalds like 3 times a year, less than 10 times even if I include other fast food chains. I stop drinking sodas as well before 25. Tidbits like chips are far and few as well.

Are you overweight? What do you eat when you cheat?

Yeah about 10 pounds heavier than I want to be. I mostly eat shit at my work cafeteria. They always have cookies, muffins, hot dogs, stuff like that out. I used to ignore it but recently its been harder

I have the cravings, but I had to put in safeguards to stop myself from eating the junk. I have always had a bit of a sweet tooth, but it feels like it's increased with my age. If I have a bag of candy or something, or a cake at my place, i will eat the whole thing by the weekend. I can't eat just one.

So, I don't keep junk food in the house. The only time I eat sweets is when I'm outside the house--dinner and dessert with the girlfriend, or something like that.
Other junkfood isn't a problem for me though. I stopped eating fast food a long time ago.

you're not young anymore and you're metabolism will decrease as u get older.

Same. I'm 44 now and have to eat very clean and hit the gym in order to just maintain.

I've gained discipline. You just have to because your health is on the line when you get older. You're not old enough yet to get "scared straight" by a health crisis or mild but serious warnings like high blood pressure, but the time to learn discipline is now for you because sometimes you don't get a second chance.

Nope if anything I eat better. I crave more high quality food than anything. I also love working out so I always keep a decent body shape even when I'm eating a little much.

I'd say the opposite for me. I still eat bad shit but I think about it. I also put a lot more effort into my cooking rather than just slapping shit together.

Doing sous vide lamb tonight with my new sous vide.

My gut is enforcing its own self discipline. It says "fuck you" if I eat too much, too spicy.
And nothing past 7pm or I'll have acid stomach.

Yeah I wouldn't say as far as "disciplined" but more thought certainly goes into it, mainly in just not having as much fattening food/drink around the house.

I'v never had to deal with having a desk job though which I'm sure would make diet an even bigger issue.

For me it's the opposite. When I was young I had zero discipline when it came to food and now i stick to a pretty strict diet most of the time. Of course I do have my moments but for the most part I'm pretty good.

Nah.

I've always ate what the fuck I want. Always had a bit of a layer of fat on me, probably 15-20%.

Just living that super heavyweight, offensive lineman life.

How did he diagnose you as skinny fat. It's a real thing, I'm just curious whether he found intraperitoneal fat or was he just guessing?

Started last year. I'm getting on it though.
