Anyone else feel like Marvel deciding to make everything a comedy is just lazy writing?

It's more of an art and skill to successfully produce cinema that is more dark or serious yet captivating enough to catch people's attention. This new marvel stuff is just so corny to me, seems like they are just looking for easy money and not trying to make any actual great pieces of work

I feel like continuing to make marvel movies is Hollywood being lazy period

Super heros have been milked dry weather It's a comedy or an action movie or drama and it's time to not make any more of this shit for a while

Yeah it really should depend on the character.

Like Spider-Man, for instance, should be cracking jokes in the middle of a big fight, because that's part of his character and always has been in the comics.

But since the Spider-Man movies were a big success, every super hero movie copies that shit until now it's just part of the super hero formula.

I thought the first Thor movie had a good balance of comedy mixed in but then it just got so out of hand. Iron Man and Captain America movies did too.

They keep doing the comedy route because of their successful franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers went the comedy route.

I hope they go a different route with X-Men.

True and I actually loved the first gotg but then it just got ridiculous for the second and third. Like they were trying too hard to be funnier than the first and a lot of the characters just became annoying and cringe.

Yes and no. There needs to be a comedic element there because it's an absurd concept. Peter A David, Chris Claremont, Gail Simone, Mark Waid were some of my favorite writers and always injected some humor into the stories be it a POV character, "workplace" situations, etc.

But yes, it can (and has been) overdone. The Agatha Harkness show is a prime example. Like, if DC decided to do Green Lantern Corps and it came off more like Brooklyn 99 than Hill Street Blues, it would be a missed opportunity and likely a disaster.

This right here is why Tom Holland immediately won me over as the studios finally getting Spider-Man right. He nailed the role. He had the right look and wasn't such a damned introvert.

Garfield and Maguire were just these pathetic simps in their respective franchises. Never understood the love for them, and always felt they were poorly cast (with the obvious exception of course). Doctor Octopus was cool as shit though.

And that fucking Nickleback song... ughhhh. Most overplayed song ever.

1. It's clearly working. This style is very popular with audiences.

2. Josh Wheadon was a huge influence on the MSU. Plus you have guys like Fegie and Gunn. The style of all those guys is very comedic.

Are there any dark/serious MCU movies besides winter soldier ?

It was good at first but yea it just got so out of hand. I want more movies like Winter Soldier from them.

Not lazy, just bad. Comedic relief is one thing -- a light, childish, jocular tone across everything is lame. It's no surprise that all of my favorite superhero movies are the more serious ones while my least favorite are the more comedic ones.

The over-quipping is a big problem. But another is just too much saturation. The concept of a universe of movies and characters was great for the avengers series, but now there is no limit or end to any plot line.

The Dark Knight trilogy is kind of the blueprint for how superhero series should run. A definite start and ending.

Now it's basically a sitcom

There's always been that humor in marvel movies. Everyone trying to be snarky like Iron Man. Then Guardians showed them you don't even need strong charecter development and can have an entire cast of comic relief.
