Think i've chipped mine by somehow falling on it and it's pretty painful! Can't do press ups or put much pressure at all on it at the mo, it's doing my head in. I have full range of motion and i dont think it's near any muscle origin/insertion points as it is right on the tip of the elbow. Have iced it and taken ibuprofen for now, also gonna slap on some cryogel and see what happens. No conditioning, no rolling etc etc How long does it take to heal on average if you've had it happen to you?
It took me 3-4 weeks. It would feel better but would get reinjured. I never stopped going to practice or rolling.
Could you put any pressure on it in the first few days? 2 days later and it feels a lot less painful. Can defo feel some sort of chip though but my friend's a trainee sports therapist and said i probably wouldnt be able to touch it if it was bone damage.
Hmm, i'm starting to think it's just badly bruised then. I can rest it on the desk ok. It's painful but not unbearable. The 'chip' could just be some seriously disfigured soft tissue i guess? Haven't been able to get to casualty as i've had exams this week.
I previously had an avulsion fracture in my elbow (put my arm out to stop myself from running into a wall and felt a pretty sharp pain). That had pretty similar symptoms as the ones you're describing: full range of motion, but if I tried to push with it, there was a pretty sharp pain. After letting it heal for a while, it still was aching, but exercising that area seemed to help. Standing overhead triceps extensions seemed to be the winner for me; it'll probably ache while you're doing it, but stick with it and things should hopefully heal up for you.
I think I might have a similar thing going on with one of my knees. I don't exactly know how I did it, but for about a month and a half, whenever drop onto that knee I feel a sharp pain, almost as if there is a pebble or some small hard object on the mat and I put my knee down on top of it. I can feel around with my finger and can feel a small hard object underneath the skin, which I assume is some sort of chip. Hurts like a bitch. Anybody else have something similar?
