I have Smith getting the W


He was out of his league against Jones both stylistically and talent wise.


He's a better striker overall than Gus imo...especially this later version of Gus

Doubt anyone would claim Smith is better at grappling but the question is if Gus can even make it a grueling fight

Maybe im sleeping on Gustafsson.....but Anthony Smith just has more tools with striking in both standup and muay thai clinching strikes.

Gus boxing is more polished than anything Smith throws but it's a matter of who has more to throw for me....

Funny thing is I didn't even know they were fighting this Sat. Do I really care? No. Will I pirate this event and have it on the background? Yes.
 
It's a great card overall for an early event from Europe

More excited for Anthony Joshua vs Ruiz later on that day

I feel like Gus is beyond his physical prime and he'll never be able to wear gold in the UFC. Anthony Smith is a journeyman with a good punch and some durability. The fact that Smith might take 1-2 rounds off of Gus in this fight is a bit sad

Ruiz has quick hands

I just hope he has a chin so we can get a good 10 to 12 rounds, this is a rare fight that I would like to see go the distance

Ruiz is the people's champion either way for taking the fight
 
The fact that both of them lost to Jones recently makes it less interesting for sure. Volkov also lost to Smith in his last fight.

None of these guys really stand a chance against Jones. But we should have good scraps nonetheless.

Not particularly. I'd be much more interested if it was Smith/Rockhold just because of the nasty bad blood. Gus/Smith seems sort of bland tbh. Probably because we just saw both of them totally shit the bed against Jones. Neither really even seemed to be giving their best effort. Both barely threw anything standing and then just waved the white flag and waited to be finished as soon as Jones got on top of them. For some reason Jones didn't seem to want to hurt or finish Smith whereas he wanted to take Gus out as soon as the opportunity presented itself.
 
they both gave their souls to the skeleton king... now they are just empty shells
 
Big picture? No. Because (1) Smith isn't actually elite; and (2) neither guy is a match for the current champion.

That being said, it should be a fun fight, which is good enough for me.
