Very sad situation. He sacrificed himself taking his worst matchups back to back to back only because they were the biggest paychecks (PPV buys, generational wealth) enduring 11 rounds of demoralizing leg-diving and a brutal KO loss. He basically sold his soul for his family and future generations of Masvidals.

It will be tough to live down getting ragdolled by someone who said the things his former best bud said, giving it all you got, and not being able to do anything about it.

He's a smart guy, he knows the game, he came to get paid and that's what he did.

He got two title shots, and headlined two relatively big ppv's, that's probably more than anyone expected from him a few years ago.

I'm a fan and I felt bad for him a bit, this is a hard defeat to swallow for him.
Losing is part of the game though and Jorge took a risk fighting Colby.
I appreciate what he's done in his career, but he's clearly out of his prime and I'd like for him to chase money fights with his new lucrative contract.
There's no gain in getting his head pounded in by elite fighters when the chances of him getting a title shot are pretty much gone now, hopefully he gets Conor or Diaz next.

I wish the best towards him and his family.

He needs to fight Conor next. They both can't lose.

No shame in losing to Colby. Jorge knew what the deal was and knew it will be an uphill battle. He came, he tried, he failed. He's not the youngest dude anymore and his bank account isn't suffering. He'll be aight but I can't imagine any loss stinging more than this one.

Nah not really. I used to be a fan but he became such a yapper after he got famous, the very thing he claimed to despise. I enjoy seeing people like that get a reality check.

To his credit he takes a loss better than anyone not named Askren. Didn't take anything away from Colby and admitted his own shortcomings. Compare that to Conor's behaviour after his losses to Khabib and Poirier. It made me regain some sympathy/respect for Mas.

No. I like him but he’s been living off his run from 2019 and getting big fights still that he hasn’t really deserved. He should do fun fights like fighting guys like Conor or Nate and keep the gimmick bmf title and maybe defend it. He never was a champion level fighter.

I laughed at him so much that I cried. Does that count?

Jorge got paid… pretty sure he knew he was gonna lose.

He has a high fight IQ and has trained with Colby and knows both of their strengths and weaknesses very well. So he had to have known he wouldn’t be able to out wrestle him.

I think he’s sour about losing to someone he hates but doesn’t matter as much cause he’s finally getting paid really well.

He knows the title and that path is no longer in his future. I think he’s happy taking big money fights against some top fighters now.

If bs like that is someone's hardship we are doing quite good as humans

This. He maximized his money earning potential. But he should've taken a more winnable fight before Colby just so it's not 3 consecutive losses in a row. That hurts his brand losing back to back like that. People accepted that Usman had his number and still willing to watch his next fight, he should've fought a winnable fight to bring back hype to his brand and fight Colby after, then if he loss fight another winnable fight so he can stay a draw. He focused only on money and lost a lot of his draw and appeal with 3 back to back losses.

That's what Conor was doing with his wins/losses so it keeps him a draw, Conor would avoid trying to lose back to back to maintain his appeal and drawing power. Masvidal still has fights in his contract so he could've taken his time with the match making.
