Just seeing if anyone was there... I was there, rolled in the Novice-nogi-150-159.9... My team did tremendously well(3 swords, silver, bronze) out of 6 competing... It was a small turnout but fun none-the-less... New Castle's gym is ridiculous by the way

I wanted to go and watch(me am injured) but its too far away for just a watch. Wish Illinois would get its crap together and let Naga back in.

They did, Kip, president of NAGA said they will be in Chicago 2 times in 2010, may and september

I was there, won both gi/no-gi divisions

I thought Grappling tournaments were banned in illinois. If they are going to be here in may and september thats great.

I spoke with some guys who are somewhat close with the athletic commission. As it turns out, they repealed the statue effective Oct. 1st. (If i recall correctly). It's kind of based on a small contingent. (sorta small). Basically, they're trying to determine if we need blood work (competitors). If that's the case, it's actually a quick $20-$40 procedure without insurance. However, if the state has their way, they could possibly make competitors go to certain places/people to get the test done. Which could possibly suck if those providers are out-of-network for some people and if those people charge more.

Basically, the state is trying to get some sort of $$$ out of this. But they know they have to tread lightly because if they resort to having people go to only certain providers to get "clearance" that could be construed as "denying" health care benefits to those who aren't able to afford going "out of network."

Then the real "fun" begins.

that gym was crazy.. They also had another set of mats set up in another room that I competed in.

Thats a nice gym. I was going to go, but then got hurt. Glad I didn't, I heard the turnout was ridiculously low.
