The only reason to call him an "MMA fighter" in this context is to make it seem like a more legit win for Paul. "He beat an MMA fighter" sounds way better than "he beat a wrestler who had never boxed in his life and showed absolutely no striking skill his entire MMA career". Context matters.

BUT he couldnt handle the punches from paul for even a minute
