Give more info. In terms of quality? There are many shows past and present much better. In terms of a show similar in style? I don't know.
What aspects of Dexter do you like. There are a ton of awesome shows out there right now. If you're more into characters, tight plotting, and suspense I recommend Breaking Bad or Boardwalk Empire. If you like the action and fun nature of the show then i recommend Sons of Anarchy.
Yeah, House, it's not great throughout, but then again Dexter isn't either, but it's fun and you get a sneaky sociopathic lead character working within a bureaucratic organization. Secrets, etc..
You just miss dexter. There is nothing really similar theme wise. Just be patient for the final season then turn into Dexter when it's all over.
Seriously? Yikes. First time i've heard that from anyone. Sooo good. I really like Dexter a LOT aside from season 6 and most of season 5 as well, can't really think of anything very similar but yeah, Breaking Bad is not TOO far off...both very intense shows featuring criminals juggling family life and their crimes while also avoiding being caught. They're both awesome IMO. Maybe give BB another shot if you only watched a couple? It has literally gotten better every season.

Keep an eye out on NBC's HANNIBAL. The series will focus on the early relationship between Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and FBI agent Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). No broadcast date yet.

i didnt really fall in love with tat show till about halfway into the first season...i would recommend sticking with it a little longer also, nurse jackie - main character with a secret, kind of funny, good clean style
Can't give you a direct serial killer show but I think Justified is a good similar watch. It's about a US marshal but the season focuses a little around his personal life along with dealing with a big villain each season or across a few. Great actors on the show as well.
