If it weren't entertainment, they wouldn't fill arenas with spectators.

when has anyone said the sport wasn't entertaining?

Any sport with pro tied to it is a sport where all the best do steroids.

I'm sure plenty of people have said it's not emetertaining because it's not their thing. But, many people have said that unlike pro wrestling, MMA is pure sport. If it were amateur it could be called a pure sport but at the professional level of MMA, the most important thing is how entertaining they can make it so that profits are maximized - not the purity of the sport. If it were pure sport and not a mixture of sport and entertainment, you would;t see more and more fighters resorting to "trash talk" to try to increase revenues. If the purity of the sport were the most important thing, they would have a standard system of awarding title fights to the #1 contender in the division - not to the fighter who will sell the most PPVs.

many people
who are "people"? i think you're just making up a bunch of conjecture in a weird thread. i don't know anyone who considers mma purely a sport with no entertainment aspect

Had to read your replies to figure out what thread is about as the title and op are very unclear. Agree though.

There's a lot of people in these forums who have a rose-tinted view of MMA as something that used to be about "respect", "honour" etc. They want MMA to be pure, and so resent fighters earning fights based on their ability to self-promote and generate interest in the sport.

They all forget Royce breaking Delucia's arm well after he'd tapped in one of the early UFCs, and wearing the gi but refusing Ken his wrestling gear. They forget Keith Hackney pounding on Joe Son's balls, and Mark Kerr subbing Dan Bobish with a chin-to-eye sub, and Tank Abbot mimicking that guy's seizure after he was KOd.

I'm saying that the entertainment aspect of pro MMA is more important to promoters than preserving the purity of the sport. It is entertainment first and foremost that just happens to be in the form of a sport.

You've made no point.

Sport is entertainment.
Entertainment isn't sport.

WWfake crap is not a sport. And it's for little kids.
