to compete in the Gracie Nationals?

I know my camp will be represented fairly well...I'll try to make it if I'm finished moving by then (argh, I hate moving).

I'm sure alot of Team Gurgel will be there, along with Relson's guys....just curious to who else expects to be there?

Right now, I'm planning on it. Not sure if I'm actually gonna end up there or not. Gotta improve some things if I wanna be successful there though...no way am I paying 65 bucks to get eliminated....what happens happens, of course, and winning doesn't making a man nor does losing make a wimp...but I don't like the idea of paying money and then having to sit on the sidelines.

you vaghi guys are always a well represented and pretty solid group each year. i'm goin with a bunch of guys from team popvitch this year it should be pretty fun. I'm trying to make 160 though and it's gettin kinda tricky but i think it'll be worth it. I really don't wanna deal with relson's kid again ;)

I think thats a little too soon for me, but I hope to go to the Gracie Worlds in Columbus in March, when I'll have a little more experience.

I'll be there, not sure what weight class yet, I could stay where I am and enter the super super heavy or drop 6 lbs. and get in the super heavy??? Not really sure what to do yet. I also don't like the single elimination, but am figuring on entering the gi and no-gi class.

No-gi is gonna be TOUGH. Only 2 skill divisions...amateur and pro. It will be seriously competitive. I am also considering doing no-gi though. Gi is actually easier for me in some ways, but A. my face always gives fucked up with the gi and B. if I wanna train gi, I usually have to pay.

I weigh 195 right now....not sure where I'll be come tournament time--assuming I go. I'm a grad assistant at WMU right now and I don't know exactly how swamped I'll be or what. Regardless, I'm gonna train as if I'm going. I figure I'll just let my weight handle itself though and just focus on staying in shape and sharpening everything up.

They're run by the same people, but this one is little more athlete-friendly. It's a bit smaller and things usually start on time. It gets going at around 10am and is usually over by 7pm.

I prefer this one to the Arnolds

I'll be there with Team Jorge Gurgel of Beckley, WV. Entering the 213 Amateur no-gi, and 215 white belt divisions. I didn't realize there were only pro and am divisions for no-gi, this promises to be a great learning experience.

Yes. Rafting tourism is still a major part of the economy around here. I grew up a stones throw from the new river gorge, spent alot of my formative years raising hell around the area. Never been on the Gauley though, I definitely want to give it a go sometime, but I just don't have the free time.

Well, i went and it was a blast. My first competition...I got my ass handed to me by lockjaw211 in the first round of the 173 Gi white belt div. We were on the rattail too, so he had a tough time all the way through, although he kicked some ass and took 4th. I had a lot of fun. I got to see a lot of good BJJ. Team Gurgel brought like a billion guys and kicked ass all day.
The highlight of the day was probably the fact that Rich Franklin showed up and was like the nicest guy ever.

I enjoyed the tournament. It was a little bit too long and drawn out, but overall I was pleased with my performance. I took 1st in the white belt heavyweight gi, and 2nd in am heavyweight no-gi. My no-gi bracket was messed up though, 2 guys left, so I ended up only having one match to get into the finals, where I got smoked like a pack of kools.
