Any hip hop devotees here who feel Kanye is obscenely overrated?

I know that but they didn't release it because it was too hard or some shit.
Still....why not rerecord your shit on that beat instead of going to Ron Browz and getting an entirely different beat.

Columbia wouldn't release it and Nas rewrote it. The first two verses are online. The third I've never been able to find. It mentioned Jay and Dame should have been on Aaliyah's plane and some other nasty stuff according to Large Pro.

I liked the Ron Brownz beat. I've heard better stuff but it works for me.

The Ron Browz beat wasnt up to par with the Takeover beat.
Ether has a very 1999-2000 sound to it, similar to Hot Boyz by Missy Elliot.

Nas couldve gotten a better beat. He still won the battle tho.

Yeezus Cristal? Overrated?

lmao. he brought back soul beats to hip hop in a era where there was no soul. so yes, he has done something comparable to all those albums u listed. thread is horrible and uninformed with blind hate added into it. so another typical sherdog hip hop thread.

Idc how relevant he was. He has had some great albums but he can't rap and his flow is shit, he mumbles over sick beats. Most of his stuff post blueprint/black sucks bad.

It doesn't matter if you don't care or not, the fact of the matter is that Jay has probably influenced every rapper to the game since Reasonable Doubt, and whether you like it or not, or listen to him or not, you have heard and enjoyed music that was inspired or influenced by him.

when jay puts out more diss songs and challeges you too a rap off and you dont step up to the challenge.

On top of that work for the man. I dont what your definition of winning is but nas got shitted on pretty bad.

He had one hot diss song that every one loved but nas never compared to jay

Based on 3 good albums? Cmon dude, their consistency isn't even close. Scarface is probably the most consistent rapper ever as far as putting out good albums.

tech 9 is up there with putting out classic albums. Tech is on fire

kanye's latest album was just okay, nothing special really. 808s was awful too. i think he's a bit overrated but still a great hip hop artist

Most hip hop artists today are really pop stars. It is what it is

maybe if your only source of hiphop is the radio and worlstar

n people say my opinion is horrible....psh....

I agree with people. I disagree with you. You are becoming my new Diablo Ryu. Go listen to more Chief Keef or Wale or w/e other garbage shit you fill your peanut sized brain with.

Tech nine has zero classics.
Not everything is a classic.
A classic is something that people will look back on and say "Yea, that was an outstanding album".
Classic albums are either game changing or really define an era of the music.
The Chronic is a classic, Illmatic is a classic. Tech N9ne?? No.

The definition of winning is that the hip hop community gave Nas the nod.
Now when I say hip hop community, I mean reputable people who know the music, study the music, and live the music.
Also Hot97 did hold a poll for New Yorkers to call in and vote on who they think won. 58% voted for Nas and 42% for Jay

Was Shakespeare obscenely overrated?

In the club with Silicone Suzie,
What happened to real girls like Rudy?
With real titties like Tooty,
This girl got a silicone booty!
And got the nerve to act moody!
Now I ain't tryin to judge like Judy,

All these years later and he married that silicone booty.

In "Hell of a Life" he says:

I fell in love with a pornstar
Turn the camera on she a born star

His influence doesn't matter imo. I judge rappers by their skill, not their place in pop culture. I have enjoyed Jay in the past but the guy has a lazy flow thb.

He's an overrated twat.

I'm a bit confused why he wore this recently too:

A picture of Richey Edwards on his jacket, the infamous photo where he carved 4REAL into his arm.
Not sure how someone like Kanye West possibly relates to the Manics or Richey!

you have very strong opinions for someone who is, admittedly, ignorant on this topic. You must just like to post nonsense.

My strong opinion that the floor on lyrical quality in rap is lower than in other genre's? Other than what I've said about Nas (whose entire catalog I have listened to), I think that's all I've said. And I think I'm well-informed enough to post that. You must get off on thinking yourself knowledgeable on subjects that cater to the teenage underclass. I'm not sure I could care of the opinion of a true rap devotee in the first place.
