I'd prefer the movie to be from American perspective but it absolutely doesn't have to be. I dont think I've seen one ww1 movie that i like.

Warhorse was okay. Legends of the Fall if you count it as one.

Lawrence of Arabia (All time great film)
Paths of Glory
All Quiet on the Western Front

Been meaning to try Lawrence of Arabia. Does it hold up to the test of time?

Gallipoli is an outstanding film, rarely gets a mention but it has a legitimate claim to be one of the top 5 Mel Gibson films. If you pay to stream it and don’t like it pm me and I’ll give you your money back, and I’m serious about that.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm a big Mel Gibson fan, love Braveheart, the Patriot and a few others so I'll check it out.

Definitely bro. It's a timeless film. It still looks pretty spectacular today

Just remember it's almost 4 hours long

Hence the reason I've never watched it lol but I'm looking for epics anyways and I suppose that fits the bill.

All Quiet on the Western Front is the quintessential WWI film IMO. Both versions are masterpieces.

I saw two good WW1 movies yesterday and today. Very different movies, "Testament of Youth" told from the perspective of a British women whose lover and brother were sent to war and she later on got invovled as a nurse helping the wounded soldiers. "Journey's End" told the story of a British company occupying a trench in Northern France. I recommend both.

theres a series on Netflix called Our World War or something

i didnt like how it was produced though, something about the musical choices and way it was edited seems off

Good thread. Will be watching most recommended. Thank you.

The Grand Illusion. It's a masterpiece film by one of the greatest directors who ever lived. It's one of the greatest movies ever created and approaches the war from such a way that it will never be diminished by the passage of time.

Just a complete mindfuck.

Lives of a bengal lancer is pretty dope too.
