The best is Gold's gym on Monterey Road downtown, they have olympic lifting equipment there, but that's too far for me.

There is a Gold's gym much closer to me, but they only have those fucking useless pieces of shit octogonal plates and the bars they have dont spin! WTF?!! And there is a Bally's witth the same problem. I dont get this trend towards replacing round with polygonal plates. Is there ANY benefit to using non-round plates? Or is it just because it looks "cool"?

Based on my google search it seems that there is just ONE weighlifting/powerlifting-oriented gym in San Jose, how the heck is that possible? Does anyone know of any other gym besides Gold's on Monterey rd?

Thanks.

I think the logic is so they don't roll around. I'm not quite sure why that's a good thing, but yeah.

I think they are cheaper. Is it Iron Grip? they've been invading gyms everywhere in NYC

Isnt the y down in sanjose? try san jose state or somethin? i swear san jose was the powerliftin capitol of the world or maybe track... way back when.

I dont think they're cheaper, as they're coated with plastic have holes for easy carrying, etc. I hate this trend towards "fancy" designs that completely ignores the objects functionality. Only a total moron who never set foot in a gym could come up with such a criminally bad design

But anyway, back to my original question: ANY GOOD GYMS IN SAN JOSE?

These are the people lifting at Gold's on Monterey road, I knew of them.

Anyway I ended up joining a Gold's gym near me, and I can use the Gold's where the olympic lifters lift too. So it's a good deal.
