just wondering if anybody knew why he gets so overlooked in the history books. he had a heap of title defences and was one of the hardest hitting lightweights i have ever seen. dropped pryor in the first round when he was well past his best.

He fucking delivered. He may be overlooked because Colombia isn't exactly a great boxing nation, and most guys he beat aren't all that famous, this side of De Jesus and an old Locche. But he's tons of fun to watch and reigning this long is worth quite some credit.

his fight with de jesus was awesome. his power and reach intimidated his opponents a lot like hearns or foster.

Interesting question. Perhaps because so much of his career was in South America and then his first fight after was a loss? Then when he was at his peak he was in an era with so many legends he gets overlooked?

His fight with Aaron Pryor was a war.

i think your right. he was definitely overshadowed by hearns, leonard and duran, even though he wrecked the first fighter that stopped duran.
