A buddy was (according to him) investigated by the FBI when he worked for Marc Emery. Emery was a legalization advocate, sold seeds, was a scumbag according to many but operated within the confines of Canadian law. He ended up doing time in a US prison.

In 1994 Chretien, our PM proposed decriminalizing marijuana. The DEA proposed that they would search every vehicle crossing the US border, so the plan was scrapped. Oddly enough he didn't enact the emergency measure act even though cross border trade was threatened. Weird.

Our neighbors to the south absolutely do have a hand in how Canada is ran. To think otherwise is pure naivete. Yeah we're partners, but we're the lesser party by far. It is what it is.

The occupation caused millions of dollars a day in economic damage to the city, with was already struggling from the pandemic. We had just come out of a lockdown, then these assholes show up. Many small businesses did not survive.
