That decision butterflied effected into Jones being a one of the worst ducks ever. If he had another loss on his record he couldn't act like he is acting now.

Truly one of the worst decisions in the octagon ever for himself and in hindsight for all the fans.

Would have been pretty funny for Jones to have multiple DQs, an overturned win over a failed steroid test, and another win that had to get moved to a different state because he couldn't pass the steroid tests to get sanctioned where it was scheduled.

Bro got a gig analyzing UFC scraps an' catchin' heads in slaps tho played di long game scrapped wid honor too

🦁❤️🙏🏿💞

Fighters aren't just given a DQ win for getting hit with an illegal blow. It has to be ruled intentional AND the guy on the receiving end has to be unable to continue. Smith pretending to be hurt worse than he was would've been career suicide.

It would've been perfect IMO

Almost Full gamut.

DQ loss for illegal strikes
Win overturned for pissing hot
Stripped for failed tests
Title loss for illegal strikes

Last one would've been loss due to eye pokes.

Worked out great for Aljo.

Smith v Reyes would've for the belt and Reyes winning would've at least made LHW interesting for a few months

Even if he got the belt through a DQ, Jon would have just come back and destroyed him in the rematch and the timeline would have been restored properly.
Smith probably did miss out on a good payday, though.

But weigh that single payday vs a full on career he has now.

UFC knew that they make more money selling Jon Jones, Smith didn't take that from them, he gets a continual kickback for "doing the right thing "

He might have made more from taking the belt and another beating to walk it to the cage and give it back, maybe, but he has post fighting income now.

lol yea because the UFC would have avoided give Jon an immediate rematch.

It was a 2 point deduction, iirc, which is the requirement for an intentional foul that creates injury, but the fight can continue. It might not be guaranteed, but if the fight couldn't continue, it could pretty safely be assumed it'd be a DQ.

Probably true, but this was only the first defense of run #2. Jon was still suspended for the umpteenth time when they announced he'd fight Gus again for the vacant belt, so if he fucked up again in his first defense, they might have been tired of giving him favors.

Reyes later on didn't have the best opponent selection up to his shot, but Santos did, so maybe they do Smith vs Santos and Jon would have fought Dom in a 3 rounder, where Dom wins every round convincingly and loses 30-25 on Joe Soliz's card.

Eh I wouldn't mind Jones having another dq on his record, he certainly deserves it. But then I have to live in a world where Anthony Smith was a ufc champion. I dunno man I don't think it's a good trade.

Worked out pretty well for my man Aljo tbf

Did it? He's a meme fighter now that no one takes seriously.
Nah he became a world champion with multiple title defenses. Got goofed on for a while but he's respected now. Shit the crowd cheered for him and boo'd Movsar lol.

Earned alot of money during his championship days and is apparently on a sweet contract now. That shit would never happen if he pushed on after the knee.

Doubt he cares what some people on the internet thinks.
