Looks like Njokuani thinks Cowboy got lucky in his fight against Edson Barboza. Njokuani is looking to work toward a fight with Cowboy before he retires.

He also clarified on twitter he means no disrespect to Cerrone but that Edson has turned a corner and is much better than what he showed. Edson was outstriking Cowboy by 3-1 up to that point.

Regardless of the fight Edson gets a lot of hate. I respect the guy a lot because 3 years ago his TDD was non existent and everyone said a wrestler or grappler would kill him. He relocated camps and worked hard and now his defensive wrestling is one of his biggest strengths.

I feel he can make similar improvements in defense. Of course the keyboard warriors would blame his chin but Barboza has still only been dropped twice in his mma career and the shots he ate from Castillo nearly killed Brennamen.

I hate to bring up Jack Slack but even he releases an article about Barboza's chin being falsely accused online.

Capitalizing on an opening and finishing your opponent is as legit as it gets.

Hey ts, care to tell me why you're talking shit to Jack Slack? There's been an increase in hate toward him lately and it's not clear to me why

I have nothing against him I just said that he defended Barboza's chin.

I say I hate to bring it up because most people hate him and will flame me it's nothing against him.

A big part of striking is defense. Barboza in his loses to Cerrone and Varner showed his lack of defense and ability to take the same amount of punishment that he dishes out.

Barboza is an elite striker but has a weak chin,a huge liability in the combat game.
There is no luck, only the wisdom to exploit openings and that was why Cerrone won!

Maybe Anthony would make it out of the first round with Cowboy this time.

That was a heartbreaker, but nobody made excuses for that one. Cerrone looked legitimately shocked by what Pettis was doing, that was tough to watch.

Waited so long for that fight to get made too.

"Hate to bring up js, but even he blah blah"

Sounds like you're saying he got something right for once.

Just furthers the "slack is crap" argument of some folks around here.

If you don't feel that way, don't further the sentiment. It's ok if you don't personally think he's shit, we'll still accept you :)

Landing a stiff jab against a very aggressive striker that caused him to get rocked is lucky? THEN having the fight IQ to jump on the sub rather than go for the TKO is lucky? WHAT!

He threw a punch......Edspn briefly closed his eyes and got hit. Call it lucky, call it good timing, call it bad luck.....what ever. These type of things happen in pretty much every fight, all part of the sport.

Cowboy was getting tagged but that's kind of his M.O.
He stood in there and landed before Barboza did, not sure "Luck" had much to do with it
