I was wondering to optimize muscle growth when should you lift weight and when should do your cardio??? From what I have seen most people do their cardio early in the morning and lift weights later in the evening. I was just wonder because I am trying gain as much weight as possible, but not be out of shape where I can

I normally cardio on my days off*lifting*...but when i do do both in the same day, run in the mornin lift later

No! No! No! You're new here so you didnt know i'm the Senior Weight Gain From Experience Advisor, I gained 30lbs in 3 1/2 months. If you're lifting heavy(Main Powerlifts bench, squat, deadlift) and are doing bodybuilder assistant lifts then you are going to be/wanting to use your muscles to their full potential and all cardio will do is wear them out.

Because Cardio = Endurance
Reps 1-5 = Strength
Reps 8-12 = Size
Reps 15-20+ = Endurance

So do ur cardio/bodyweight exercises/plyos after your workouts or on ur restdays. And dont forget to eat a buttload u hear me a buttload a buttload

Arent you still like 140lbs?

It would be smarter to do plyo's before your heavy lifting, not after.

I have another question, but I don't really want to start a new thread…. When is the best time to lift weights??? I read somewhere that you have the highest levels of testosterone in the morning???

are you talking about speed-strength?

i honestly could not lift heavy in the morning. my back would get f-ed up and i'd probably fall over. i barely have enough coordination to get dressed, sometimes i just don't even bother and go out without pants. basically what i'm saying is, it's personal preference. i prefer to not wear pants and to lift in the afternoon. you may be different.

noticed you're 16 and stupid....uh....female??

*high five sex crime*

According to Dr. Stuart McGill (Ph.D in spinal biomechanics):

Full spine bending first thing in the morning is a great way to damage your back. You're taller when you wake up in the morning than when you go to bed at night. This is because the discs suck up water while you sleep. After rising, just walking around and using the muscles during the day compress your spine and the fluid is squeezed out, decreasing the anular tensions in the disc. So, when you wake up the extra height in the discs are analogous to a water balloon ready to burst. If you bend, you build up much higher stresses in the disc. In fact, the stresses are three times higher than when you perform the same bend two or three hours later. So, heavy bending exercises, good mornings or sit-ups for example, performed first thing in the morning is not a good idea.

So I would wait at least a couple of hours before any heavy lifting in the morning.

Well, goodluck. I'd prefer it if it were "harder" for me to gain weight than how it is now. I gain fat just by smelling food, even if it's "clean" food.

Ya'll are being :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:s about lifting in the morning.

Why dontcha go to the doctor? I'm sure they'd be willing to give you something to get the swelling down on your pussies. Then, without big, slimy, ingrown vaginas bothering ya, morning lifting wouldn't look so bad.

Carnal lifting in the morning you say..?? Would that be before or after noon??
