Police were called to the scene at Richland Mall just before 9 a.m. Two officers were responding to a call of a suspicious person inside the mall. The suspect in this case has also been identified as Jarvis Hall, 34,

Hall, according to investigators, was approached by Alia and a second officer. Hall, officials said, got into a struggle with Alia, pulled out a gun, and fired on Alia.

This is why cops don't take any chances when perps are non-compliant. This is 2 miles from my sister's house where she shops with her kids. I'm sure you can all guess the description of the shooter before clicking the link. If an officer acts first, he's racist scum so I guess they just have to get shot before they can do anything.

By the way, this is not to say that ALL black people are a threat to cops, just that of those who are a threat, a majority are young black males and that obviously does and should factor into how a cop handles things and assesses threats.

And this is why I say anytime you physically get into with a cop, the cop's life is in danger and he can send his whole mag of bullets into your face for all i give a fuck.

cop was white and perp was black. Not sure if anyone was speaking Asian.

I bet the cop went home to his family...

Sorry that happened to the officer but non-compliance should not give police officers a free pass to kill someone unless the danger is imminent.

I bet someone, somewhere was.

Yep. There is a grey area when non-compliance becomes threatening on a sort of sliding scale and it ends up being a judgment call, or roll of the dice.

Given hundreds of thousands of encounters, the dice are not always going to go the right way but most of the time they will.

So non-compliance has to be tempered with a little common sense also. Some people choose to physically engage and then all bets are off.

How did this turn into a race thing already? Yeah the cop was white and the perp black but other than that there is no motive listed. And if race is not a motive I don't know why its really brought up.

Anyways condolences to the officers friends and family.

It does make one realize sometimes why when they go through training and they see vids like this to prepare them that they are some times quick to react with force.

It's in you best interest to comply. You don't comply you knowingly put your life in danger.

It's better to have a lawyers bill then a funeral bill.

I wasn't suggesting this shooting was racially motivated, just that this is the reason cops don't play games when a perp is aggressive and non-compliant. You can bet there will be no mention of this at the #blacklivesmatter protests.I can tell, I'm sure you can too, and cops can all tell by the look of someone what kind of threat they pose, and it's not just a matter of skin color, it's a certain look that exists more among blacks, but not exclusively and not entirely. My point is that police shootings aren't racially motivated either.

Yeah but you brought up race in your OP as though it was important to the story....

It shouldn't really be important to the story when a cop shoots someone either unless it's racially motivated.

Can we fucking stop politicizing Police Officers and they work they do. It's not even in the top ten most dangerous jobs in The US (even way lower in other countries). A cop is ten times more likely to die from heart disease for fucks sake...in other words safely getting fatter and lack of activity.

True but it's the way in which they die. Murdered vs. an accident. A fisherman has his boat sunk in a storm or falls overboard. Sad & Tragic, but unavoidable. A cop dies while driving his cruiser and generally the attitude is the same as the fisherman above.

Someone has their life stolen though through violence and it becomes much more tragic. It's because we can't wrap our heads around how unnecessary it was.

In before, white guilt libs, mike brown fan boys and criminal degenerate fucks justify this killing.

Does anyone on here actually justify the killing of police officers? It would be disgusting if true, I've never seen it myself on here except for a couple of blatant trolls. And dude, seriously though, out of 16k posts on this account how many are "in before" type baits?

RIP to the officer and I hope his family can get through this.

In before this turns full on $tormfron...

Too late.. Ah, Sherdog.. You never fail to disappoint.
