Sydney Machado, a Gracie Barra black belt promoted me to blue belt today.

I train 3-4 group classe a week and 1-2 privates a week. It took me 10 months, but seems like longer looking back.

Good Job!! keep at it.

Good job!

The first hurdle in an epic race to... glory?

That's the beauty of Costa Rica, it's dirt cheap to train. It's not so cheap for some other things, but training is.

My gym membership is $55 a month.
Personal Trainer is $30 a session.
Group BJJ classes are $60 a month for gym members, I think maybe $70 or $75 for non members.
Private BJJ with a black belt are $50 a session or 8 for $400.

So in say 4 weeks I spend $480 on a trainer. $60 on BJJ. and $400 on privates. Not too bad really.

Is that US dollars?

If you can afford to spend $940 a month on training, you must be a really rich dude in a country that has a GDP per capita of like $11,000.

I wouldn't say really rich. There's a lot of money here, but just not usually amongst the locals. Lots of sports books and poker rooms here because it's legal.

There's 0% income tax on money that's earned outside of the country, like from the Internet. I'm a Canadian living down here and I have a non gambling interent business myself.

Youre living the life man, I envy you for sure. Congrats again!

congratulations, very good work.

for that much money I think you can even train at Legends.

Is that where Dean Lister group up? I heard he was raised out there, verify please.

Dean Lister grew up all over the place, being a military brat. The country he talks about most, though, is Panama IIRC.

To threadstarter, who do you train with/under? Are there a lot of schools down there?

Congrats in any case.
