    Hi guys

Anyone hear had a bad swollen ankle?

I sprained my ankle from Judo about 6 months ago and it is still swollen but with little to no pain.

The docs told me my tendons are damaged but its been 6 months, other ppl who get sprains heal in 1 month to 2 months max.

the story is when I got thrown, leg got caught in a gap between the mats...when I fell i heard multiple clicking sounds like when you click your spine.

I dont know what to do now.

I can run and jump etc, is it ok for me to train again ? or is it better to lay of n do upper body workout instead.

share your thoughts with me please

    thanks

This being a forbidden topic, here is some general info. There are different degrees to ankle sprains. There's a big difference between 5-10% damage to the ligament fibers compared to 30-50% (or even more). On top of that, a lot depends on how you treated it in the last 6 months, particularly in the first few weeks.

Those other people who heal in 1-2 months max probably suffered 2nd degree sprains (or even 1st degree but they treated it in a wrong way and took longer to heal). Nobody here can make a diagnosis for you, all the more so considering it's been 6 months since the accident. Go see a sports doc.

    Anger issues much?

Does new knowledge or information make you scared and confused? Do people smarter than you make you feel inadequate? Or perhaps it's unfamilar words that bother you so much?

In any case, it's probably best if you don't post here anymore, as you'll only be bothered by posts by people who know more than you, and it's unlikely you'll contribute anything positive.

I been to few docs and they say different things. one said it will take 3 years to heal if i dont move my ankle at all. one said it will heal soon and its nothing major.

One said I need to put herbal stuff on it and it will heal in weeks.... another one said do accupunction.

I went to regular treatments with an "ankle specialist" for about 1 month, the swelling decreased but its still swollen.

Another doc said theres nothing to be done, it wont heal.

Sprains can have some negative effects for awhile, I've injured my ankle before and had pain in it a year later. Like the guy above said it depends on the degree of injury. R.I.C.E. is the best method of dealing with it, along with some good NSAIDS. Good Luck

I had a very severe ankle sprain back in January, The whole rehab, mri, air cast ankle brace routine was done. The point is the doctor said it would have been easier if I had broken it and it could take 12+ months for everything to heal. Can not do any explosive lifts that require puching off with the ankle. Squats and deads are fine. so Good Luck

What kind of treatments did you do for that one month? How long after your injury was that?

Also, what was the "ankle specialist's" explanation for the ankle still being swollen after 1 month of treatment, and what were his recommendations for how you should re-enter sports after the end of the treatments?
