I found a picture of JBS's nightly ritual.

^ I honestly don't even recognize that character.

Durara was one of my favorite animes, and I just now realized that they're about 17 episodes or so into season 2, so I watched about 9 episodes of that last night and I'm loving it. Are any of you watching it?

Space brothers is next.

I'm ok with that. I just wanted to use the picture >.> it's from Himouto! Umaru-chan though. comedy/slice of life series, I enjoy it because it makes me smile like Yotsubato just in a different sort of way.

the 20 minutes of the week I'm asking myself what I'm doing with my life.

Space Brothers can be pretty slow, but stick with it. I promise you won't regret it.

^

thanks for the space brothers recommendation btw. on episode 50 right now.

Huh, just looked it up and it sounds like it could be entertaining. Added to the to-read list.
EDIT: Just tried a few chapters. Meh. Never managed to get a good laugh out of me.

I saw Rhys Ifans as the Prosecutor and Mila Kunis as the War Goddess.

I agree with Cate Blanchett and Sean Connery.

How you like it anyway?

Just got around to reading a few more chapters. Eh, not really a fan. The tone was weird. It started off all serious, then it adds in pseudo-steampunk with exaggerated action, and then it starts in with this really un-funny slapstick style humor that I thought was so out of place I dropped it right there ("It fixed the pan!" ...nope).

Review Dump Part 1 (of 5?)

Newman - Ongoing - [C] - This english language webtoon is an urban DnD style fantasy. I found the character relationships wore thin fairly quickly and just didn't keep my interest.
Accel World - Ongoing - [C] - Eh, nothing special. Very by-the-numbers style sci-fi/school-life about a videogame-esque program. Might be more interesting if it weren't so trite.
Action Kamen - Ongoing - [B-] - This is tough to judge because the scanlations are pretty low resolution and I found it to be a choir to read at taht size. Seemed to have a decent setup, but I found it to be too much work.
Akuma no Riddle - Ongoing - [F] - Dumb. That's as much of a review as this one deserves.
Alive - The Final Evolution - Complete - [C+] - It's a decent bit of supernatural sci-fi, at least for the first half. It then goes through a time skip and I lost interest at that point. Just didn't sustain it's narrative. Closest thing I'd compare it to would be Psyren.
All That You Are - Ongoing - [B] - This webtoon has a very interesting art style and does a good job starting off. However I found myself dropping it just because I didn't connect with what was going on. I'd still say it's worth checking out though.
Area D - Ongoing - [C] - This shonen is a passable B-grade for a good part of its run, but around 100 chapters in the focus shifts and I lost interest. Essentially a narrative climax didn't go anywhere and I was so annoyed I dropped it.
Azumi - Comlete - [F] - Very dated looking and the whole "kill your friends to graduate" thing at the start wasn't earned: it had no narrative buildup and was completely hollow.
Memoirs of an Amorous Gentleman - Ongoing - [F] - Seems like it wants to shock by using taboo sexual stuff, but I found it uninteresting and the characters to be obnoxious.
Black Haze - Ongoing - [F] - Webtoon with garbage-tier artwork.
Blade Play - Ongoing - [C] - Softcore porn in a fantasy setting with a strong vein of comedy. I got a kick out if it for a while, but stopped reading because the narrative became muddy. Weird thing to say about porn, but the tits weren't enough to keep me coming back.
Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou - Ongoing - [F] - Comedy that's too much of a mess and without enough originality. The whole "weird roommates" thing is a very old sitcom trope and nothing here made me want to keep going back to that well.
Cerberus - Complete - [F] - Bad artwork and uninteresting setup. A below average shonen, which for such a huge genre is a death knell.
Chihayafuru - Ongoing - [C] - This is a josei series about a japanese cardgame. I had tried it in the past without much luck and gave it a second try with similar results. I couldn't get invested in the characters and didn't find the game play to be exciting enough to carry it.
Chronos Ruler - Ongoing - [F] - Couldn't even get through the first chapter on this one. It was just so non-descript; it felt like so many other things without a real identity of it's own.
Cronos Haze - Ongoing - [C] - This series is based on a light novel series (I guess). The art had an interesting style (reminds me of etching with the way it is sort of scratchy) but the concept was the same-old pedestrian japanese sci-fi.
Days of the Dam - Ongoing - [C] - Slice of Life about a civil engineer. Certainly a different topic than you normally see, but suffers from my typical dislike of the genre.
Dou Po Cang Qiong - Ongoing - [C] - Seems to be very similar to the series Douluo Dalu. Full color artwork, but it doesn't really add much. Very forgettable fantasy.
Douluo Dalu - Ongoing - [C+] - This fantasy is in full color and usually looks nice. It starts off more in the B to B+ range but seems to lose focus and gets messy around 70 chapters in. The core concept is repeated over and over without any real growth. So on top of losing focus it just gets boring.

EDIT: Here, have another ten. Only about 70 more to go...

Dousei Recipe - Ongoing - [F] - A comedy/ecchi that I found unbearable. Each joke seemed to erode my will to live.
Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatte iru Darou Ka - Ongoing - [F] - Holy shit, that title. Titles like that should tell you something, and that something is "run away." Simply an uninteresting action/fantasy that is too much RPG tropes.
Elana - Ongoing - [F] - Horror webtoon. Simply did not find it interesting. That's an issue I have with most horror, really. It's tough to get me engaged and going for the shock-value feels so empty.
Trump - Ongoing - [F] -I remember very little about this webtoon. It wasn't engaging enough to leave an impression.
Penguin Loves Mev - Ongoing - [F] - Bleck. Cloying slice-of-live/comedy webtoon.
Wind Breaker - Ongoing - [B] - Webtoon about high school kids racing bicycles. It's ok so far but also quite standard. Still, it's managed to keep me interested so far and seems to have good comedic timing.
City of Walls - Ongoing - [F] - At first thought the art style might be interesting but after reading some of it it actually was the biggest turn-off.
Midnight Rhapsody - Complete - [F] - Webtoon that reads like a super-amateur webcomic. Waste of time.
Aura from Another Planet - Ongoing - [F] - The tone of this sci-fi/comedy was weird and just didn't seem to work.
Mercworks - Ongoing - [F] - This is another webtoon that is more of a cheap webcomic.

Anyone read ReLife? Oh and thanks for the review, might try out Days of the Dam

Next 20. Only 47 left...:icon_cry2

Snailogy - Ongoing - [F] - A mess of stupidity.
Safely Endangered - Ongoing - [F] - More webcomiccy shit that shouldn't be on the webtoon site
UndeadEd - Ongoing - [F] - Zombie comedy/slice-of-life that just doesn't work.
Eromanga-sensei - Ongoing - [C] - Very meh. Kid works as an author and turns out his shut-in sister-whose-not-really-a-sister is the artist for his stuff. Dumb coincidence and uninteresting premise.
Girl May Kill - Ongoing - [F] - Crime drama that tries, and fails, to be edgy by having a kid be a mafia assassin.
Gun X Clover - Ongoing - [F] - Uninspired action/ecchi with an early reveal that was so obvious it dragged everything down.
Hellper - Ongoing - [A-] - The webtoon has a very unique art style. At first that seems like it's main selling point but it turns out that the writing is pretty solid. I'd suggest avoiding the comments section on the webtoon site on this one because people drop spoilers on what is a really emotional part of the story (bunch of douchebags).
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko - Ongoing - [C-] - Storry about a couple kids who basically switch some personality traits which makes things tough for both of them. It might be funny for certain audiences, but I'm not the target for this one.
Himouto! Umaru-chan - Ongoing - [F] - I thought that the premise (a girl whose public persona is perfect but is a juvenile otaku at home) could be funny, but the execution was very hollow.
Hinomaru Zumou - Ongoing - [B+] - Sports series about sumo. Fairly entertaining so far, but it's also pretty standard in it's plotlines. Other than the sport it focuses on it hasn't done enough to push it to the next level.
Horimiya - Ongoing - [F] - Shoujo slife-of-life. I just don't care.
Investor Z - Ongoing - [F] - Terrible artwork. It's so fucking bad I could only get though a few pages, much less chapters. Just awful.
Kekkon Yubiwa Monogatari - Ongoing - [C-] - Alternate world fantasy. I'm really sick of this premise. This might develop into a good series, but the first couple chapters were so unremarkable that I just didn't bother.
Kippo - Ongoing - [??] - There's only one chapter out for this so it's tough to write anything in depth. So far it seems to be about some kids growing up in tough situations. Looks like it's got some strong emotional writing, but no idea where it's going.
Last Game - Ongoing - [F] - Shoujo series about a "perfect" rich kid getting out perfect-ed by a new poor girl.
Madan no ou to Senki - Ongoing - [F] - Your typical (and boring) Japanese take on western fantasy. Pass.
Maga-Tsuki - Ongoing - [C] - Supernatural/comedy/ecchi/romance series about a kid getting bound to a goddess of misfortune. Meh, couldn't really get into this one. It wasn't outright bad, just too forgettable.
Magika no Kenshi to Shoukan Maou - Ongoing - [C-] - Extremely forgettable ecchi/supernatural series. Wore out it's welcome after about a volume.
Masamune-kun no Revenge - Ongoing - [F] - Such a stupid concept. Kid confesses and gets rejected, then spends a ton of time turning himself into a bishonen to get revenge by making the girl fall for him and then rejecting her. Idiocy.
Mayoi Neko Overrun! - Ongoing - [F] - Weird sort of harem series. The tone is odd and it is quite forgettable.

Twenty more! Only 26 left!!!!!!

Minamoto-kun Monogatari - Ongoing - [F] - A very porny romance/harem series. Frankly, I found it to be stupid.
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou - Ongoing - [B+] - Comedy/ecchi about monster girls. It's pretty over-the-top, and I think that helps keep it funny. If it were just about the boobs and fetishes (of which there are lots of both) I don't think it would work nearly as well.
Murder Incarnation - Ongoing - [F] - Tries for psychological horror, but fails to shock and comes across instead as childish.
Nana to Kaoru - Ongoing - [C] - I quite liked this ecchi romance focused on S&M, at least for a while. Eventually the character relations got tiresome. The biggest issue is that I was always a bigger fan of the secondary chick rather than the titular Nana. Nana sort of annoyed me and that got worse as the series wore on.
Nana to Kaoru Arashi - Ongoing - [C] - Same deal as above.
Nisekoi - Ongoing - [C] - Cute little Harem/romance, but my biggest misgiving turned out to be why I dropped it: the core concept that underpinned the relationships wasn't sustainable. The mystery kept getting teased at with no real growth. After fifty chapters I was too annoyed to keep going with it. People with more tolerance for that might like the series more than I did; it is well drawn and the characters are decent.
Noragami - Ongoing - [F] - Uninteresting supernatural nonsense.
Ochibi-san - Ongoing - [F] - This is basically a childrens book, like preschool level kids. Or at least the little bit I could slog through was. It might go through some dark shift later on, but the first part at least is something you'd grow out of by age 7 or so.
Okitenemuru - Ongoing - [F] - Shit series by the shit writer of the shit series King's Game. Tries to shock with violence, is instead hollow and worthless.
Oldman - Ongoing - [C] - Pseudo-historical seinen. It's got decent artwork, but I found it to be kind of weird. It starts off super serious, then adds in steampunk-esque aspect, then starts in with humor that's like something you'd see in a kid's series. It seemed like the author wasn't sure what they wanted to write.
Onikirimaruden - Ongoing - [F] - More japanese historical supernatural fantasy. I'm completely bored with the genre and this didn't do anything to make me want to go back to that well.
Ore to Ichino no Game Doukoukai Katsudou Nisshi - Ongoing - [F] - Weird to the point I had no idea what the hell to make of it.
Owari no Serafu - Ongoing - [F] - Oh joy, a vampire fighting series. It totally fails to earn it's emotional climax at the beginning of the story. Most vampire related media sucks (bazing!) and this one was no exception.
Pact - Ongoing - [F] - Hard to put my finger on this, but for some reason I had an immediate dislike for this.
Present for Me - Ongoing - [C] - Short stories, one of my least liked things in manga. There just isn't enough time to do anything meaningful.
Tales of the Unusual - Ongoing - [F] - Horror anthology webtoon. Failed to make an impact on me.
Psyren - Complete - [A-] - This is a re-read review for this shonen. I quite enjoyed this series. It's not perfect (the biggest letdown is that it was cancelled and the final arc could have used another volume to better flesh out) but it's a lot better planned out than most shonen. You get hints of things and it steadily builds to the climax.
Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan - Ongoing - [F] - The concept in this one (supernatural powers) is uninspired. But the real reason I said "fuck this" was when it was revealed the MC was a decendant of the hero who led Japan to victory in WWII...no thanks, keep that revisionist nationalism out of my media.
Re Collection - Ongoing - [B] - Tough to fully judge with only two chapters, but the story hook of amnesia here as a light enough tone to make it interesting without being overly cliche.
Re:Zero Kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu - Daisshou - Outo no Ichinichi Hen - Ongoing - [B] - Well that's quite the mouthful. Easiest way to describe this would be if All You Need is Kill is the sci-fi Groundhog Day, then this is the fantasy Groundhog Day. It's a well-worn twist, but so far the execution has been handled well. The reservation I have is that I have no idea what how well they'll be able to sustain this gimmick as an ongoing series rather than a book/movie.

Finally...it's over...

Rikudo - Ongoing - [A-] - Boxing manga about a kid who had a very rough childhood. Good action and the bleakness feels more genuine than many of these backstories tend to accomplish.
Ryuuma no Gagou - Ongoing - [C+] - This story has an interesting concept, where the name of a legendary figure gets passed down from one person to another. The problem is that the narrative doesn't get time to breath: the characters are introduced and die all far too quickly.
Sekaioni - Ongoing - [C-] - Very dark horror/fantasy. Actually too dark for me, I didn't feel like reading about a young girl getting abused and how it fucks up her psyche.
Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha - Ongoing - [F] - Ecchi/fantasy/action/comedy. It fails to gel into a coherent whole. It seems like the author would have been happier just doing porn.
Shinya Shokudou - Ongoing - [C] - Slice-of-life about a food stall. Meh. If you like the genre you should at least check it out. Not for me.
Soul Catchers - Ongoing - [C] - Mediocre artwork does this series no favors. Its about a high school student learning to be a musical director with a mild supernatural twist. It got repetitive quickly and I lost interest.
Space Boy - Ongoing - [A+] - This sci-fi/slice-of-life/mystery is very well done. The art is unique and engaging and the story feels very genuine. It's still in the early stages but I'd strongly recommend it.
Sporting Salt - Ongoing - [F] - Shounen about a kid becoming a sports doctor. Odd topic, but it's the execution that kills this one.
Star Light Woman - Ongoing - [F] - Scanlation is so low res, makes it too damn hard to read. This grade is a knock on that, the series itself might have been interesting, it just wasn't worth the effort.
Strike the Blood - Ongoing - [F] - Supernatural action/ecchi without a hint of originality.
Tail of Fairy Ice Trail - Ongoing - [F] - Took me a few pages to recognize that this is an offshoot of Fairy Tail. Blegh.
Ten Prism - Ongoing - [C-] - Action/Fantasy from the author of Capeta. His artwork is not suited to this genre, and it felt really derivative.
The New Gate - Ongoing - [B] - This is a fantasy series where what was once a game becomes reality for one of the players. It's a well-worn type of story, and most of them aren't very good. This one has been ok enough to keep reading, but so far it's not amazing. Enough that I want to satisfy my curiosity, but not enough for me to laud it's efforts.
Trash. - Ongoing - [F] - Too focused on shock value. Having young girls be violent assassins is not a new idea.
Trinity Seven - Ongoing - [F] - Empty and amateur.
Tsuyokute New Saga - Ongoing - [B] - Fantasy series with a time-travel twist. Ok so far, but I have a feeling it could crash and burn easily if the writing isn't up to snuff.
Under the Aegis - Ongoing - [B-] - Fantasy webtoon with artwork that looks like something you'd see in a western animation. The artwork grabbed me initially, but the story hasn't been matching up to that appeal. Skating on thin ice, without an improvement I'll be dropping it.
Unlucky Boy Undead Girl - One Shot - [C] - Meh, it's a horror one shot. Nothing worth bothering with, really.
Watashi Ga Motete Dousunda - Ongoing - [F] - This shoujo is an absurd piece of fantasy fulfillment. The ugly unliked girl suddenly turns into a bombshell and all the bishonens want to fuck her. Retard.
Western Shotgun - Complete - [C] - Sort of like Trigun, but it failed to captrue my interest.
World Customize Creator - Ongoing - [C] - Yet another fantasy series where a guy basically gets sucked into a game. This had a slight twist with how the guy could use an interface to change stuff in the world, but the plot wasn't interesting.
Y+M - Complete - [B] - This is like a slightly more grounded Basilisk (same artist and author). If you like things like Basilisk or Ninja Scroll you might want to try this one.

So, out of all that mess, the series I would definitely recommend:
Rikudo
Space Boy
Psyren
Hellper
