I seen bigger cats and dogs get dominated in situations by smaller cats and dogs. WHat is that? Pure psychology imo. i seen a dog scared to walk in front of a cat even though if it came down to it, the dog could crush the cat with one big bite. That's pure psychological warfare.

    Risk of injury.

40lb Wolverines arent going to kill a 300lb+ bear, they sure will fuck up its month though.

Lots of animal life is a poker game. If you stand up for your blinds you don't get rolled over.

Animals have a stronger sense of self preservation. They are not aware that vets can heal wounds and stuff. So they don't like to fight if they don't have to, or if something looks scary or might injure them. They don't have pride that keeps them from running away if they are unsure about something.

However, if something triggers their instinct, whether it be their protective instinct or hunter instinct or mother's instinct, then all logic goes out the window and they'll be super aggressive even towards a bigger animal.

So basically, often times the more triggered animal can chase away the one who was just going for a casual stroll.

It's not the size of a dog in a fight that matters.
It's the size of a fight in a dog...

When I bounced I knew a guy nicknamed "Big cat." He was 6'6", 400 lbs and he was bouncing to put himself through school to become a Podiatrist. He loved feet. What is this thread about again?

My neighbor has 2 cats, a petite little fluffy thing and a big robust shorthair that looks like it could wreck the little floofy thing if it wanted to, but guess which one is hte scaredy cat? The big robust one!

yea that dog could probably kill the cat if it came down to a life and death battle

but the dog also knows there is an exceptionally high probability of losing one, or both, eyes in the process.

    is it worth it? no

It's like another poster said, self preservation. A lot of animals will weigh the risk of injury before attacking. It's the reason you can go to Africa, lie down near a lion with an umbrella, and when the lion approaches, a quick raise of the umbrella towards the lion will scare it off. It doesn't understand the risk so it doesn't risk injury. As long as you show confidence and raise the umbrella, the lion will not attack. Try it.

    THat's so true.

I used to own a terrier mix. Then we got a couple SIberian Huskies. Well the female Husky become alpha, and started to fuck up the terrier on the regular basis but the terrier didn't gve a shit, would run right up the Husky like "Sup bitch?! Want a piece?!" And then get fucked up every time. We had to rehome the terrier because she wouldnt stop challenging the Husky and was literally gonna get herself killed.

You'd think for animals it'd be more cut and dry like the bigger animal would dominate buts its not always true

With people you'd expect more variety because our intellectual capacity is so much greater, allowing for more variance I guess
