    anyone here follow Andre Galvao?

i've seen a few of his BJJ fights as a brown belt and he is damn impressive. i tried to look for some info on him but didn't find much...no website since i guess he's still up and coming so i didn't find anything.

can anyone here share some info on him? anything would be great.

his age, weight yada yada yada.

also, what DVD's can i purchase with Andre Galvao in it? i just recently received my Mundials 2003 and 2004 DVD's.

i saw Galvao a few times in the 2003 DVD under the "best sweeps" section. surprisingly, i haven't seen him ONCE yet in the 2004 Mundials DVD.

also, why hasn't Galvao participated in ADCC yet?

    thanks!

galvao won the purple belt div world championships tapping eberybody in 2003 (his weight and absolut), did the same in 2004 in the brown belt div (only not tapping vaca from nova uniao, but still won 10x0 in the absolut). I do belive he won made it to the final this year in the BB div..

he teaches one of terere's afiliate academies in sao paulo I belive.

pretty impressive young man! he is a middle weight...

he is very aggresive, him terere, and ronaldo jacare have similar styles.
i itry to watch all of his matches when they come out. he was on a streak at the worlds, pan ams and copa worlds where he won every match as a brown belt

Andre Galvao is the middleweight champion of the 2005 mundials (medio). Marcelo Garcia won this division in 2004. Like mentioned above, he has been on a tear lately and is constantly getting better and better. He has been submitted only once in the past 2 years I think, losing by armlock to Jacare in an absolute division match. Andre is currently an instructor at TT Jiujitsu in Sao Paulo, the school founded by Eduardo Telles and Fernando Terere, who gave Andre his black belt. He is scheduled to fight an ADCC style match against Daniel Moraes sometime this year.

Andre Galvao is SERIOUS!, he trains under Carlos "cao" Calente I believe. He submits mostly everyone he fights. He has talks of wanting to do MMA some time in the not to distant future.

he is one cool guy in person. He strated doing JJ at 17 and was a black belt in 5 years, he learned most of his game from Terere. I think he is one of the best out there right now he got gold this year and he just got his BB.. He is def. the real deal

he's like only 24 and got his BB in about 5 yrs... he did win the worlds 05 but didn't medal in the open. and about him being submitted by jacare, from what i remember, andre lost by points in that. maybe they fought more than once

No offense but it was last month's issue, this one is Chuck on the front. He is awesome but one of the ugliest Brazilians I have seen.

  12. Yeah, but his girlfriend is pretty damn hot. He gave a seminar in Los Angeles a few months back. Real nice guy.

awesome, i have a subscription to grappling magazine but i haven't grabbed the mail from my box yet haha. i'll check for it tomorrow and hopefully it's there, i'd like to read that.

but yeah, i own the arte suave dvd, and it's seriously one of my favorite DVD's of all time. interesting the whole way.

what event exactly is the world championships?? is it the mundials events? does anyone here own the 2004 mundials DVD? i thought galvao would be in it, but he's not.

anyone own the 2005 mundials dvd? i'm considering picking that up and i'm just curious if galvao is in that one.

How is the arte suave dvd? Is there a lot of portugese music? One of the main reasons why I loved Dengue Fever was because of the great soundtrack, I really love their style of music.

Again, this was last month's issue, this month's is Chuck Liddel on the cover. You guys should be getting it soon.

And I'm not to sure what World Champonship he is talking about but his titles are:

    Nationals (2)
    Mundials (6)
    World Cup (4)
    State (3)
    Pan-American (3)

This was taking from Grappling magazine.
