Anderson would have beat Weidman in the first fight had he not acted a fool

The funniest part is the punch Weidman throws before the knockout is so fucking bad, but Anderson slips it anyway and then Weidman lands the KO

Anderson probably would have won had he fought someone else that night.

That makes no sense at all. He wasnt goofin off in the second rd vs Hendo,he took that fight seriously, like all of them.

you cant compare the 2

at the time he was facing hendo, he just became the champ and defended couple of times. he wast consensus best 185er, let alone the best fighter in the world, so he still had alot to prove.

by the time he was facing weidman, he already beat all the top mws, was p4p best fighter in the world and there was nothing left to prove.

all he wanted was that superfight with gsp. beating 9-0 weidman didnt do anything for him. it wouod be just another "easy opponent" ufc gave him to destroy.

i dont think he meant that one to do any damage. It was a swat backhand, not a punch. He either was trying to humiliate silva or he purposely threw that to get him to do that but i dont believe that. He was pissed off. I think he tried to bitch smack silva.

Except we saw in the second fight that Anderson just has no answer to Weidman at all.

come on,you make anderson out to be retarded lol

This is such a random thread

Like when Fedor lost to Werdum,he didnt fight the same after that,he fought like a desperate man. He lost his aura and momentum. You lose that late in your career you can never be the same. Anderson felt it slipping right in that fight though. He was doin desperate shit. You think he was complacent??? he BARELY got outta that chael fight, and he took tough losses before he got to the UFC. Theres a part in Sam Sheridan's book where Anderson was so disconsolate after his loss to Chonan he wanted to quit fighting.

So complacency is a thing, but anderson didnt have nothing to be complacent in round 2. He was trying every trick he knew to keep the chris confused so he could pull somethin out.

obviously by that time anderson chin and speed werent what they ised to be, but this is how it looks like when opponents overextend and he actually fights back

you gonna tell me if weidman threw that sloppy combo against this silva he wouldn't be on the floor seeing stars?
In these GIFs though, Silva is in position to move and defend. In the Weidman fight, his feet were parallel, not in position to move.

Look at that top GIF: Forrest alternates left and right hand shots, and Silva slips them. He anticipated the same from Chris, but that backfist with the right hand changed everything. Anderson had to slip like it was a left hand shot, and was totally out of position for the real left hand that followed.

Pretty much this. And Anderson had like at least 10 occasions even better than that where he could've easily KO'ed Weidman. Okami and Forrest weren't gassed and at that point Weidman was not only gassed but much slower than them. But it was basically the easiest situation Anderson has ever been into so he decided to play it 100 times more stupid than he ever had. And he deserved to get KO'ed. But to say that he would've lost if he gave even 5% is absurd looking how the fight was going.

Anderson is good at rolling with punches, he usually can see em coming.
This time there was nothing he could do about it. That first punch on the ground probably didnt help

Tbh anderson's head movement and reflexes were pretty good here...Weidman's wild punch caused anderson to trap himself accidentally. His dodges were spot on but he hit a wall there.
nah man, Anderson was caught often with punches like that during his career, he just got old and lost his chin.

weidman was missing most of his shots and couldn't land a td, so of course hes gonna feel good about the fight at that time

Thats stupid as fuck. The fight is still on. He knew what Weidman was capable of already, boys.

The ones that you dont see will fuck your whole shit up. Increased the ko probability by quite alot

I don’t disagree that acting punch drunk out him totally out of position to defend. From that fight on, Silva never really pulled the trigger again. The only time he did is when Bisping blatantly turned his attention away towards the red when his mouthpiece was knocked out. Weidman didn’t give him many openings, and Silva’s own sloppiness left him out of position is all I’m saying.

He was clowning to the point where it was plain stupid and reckless.

Much worse than any of the clowning he had done previously aside for Thales Leites, but even that was not as reckless.

He would have won that fight easily and extended the streak longer if he had his head together, but he seemed to lose it at times in his career. By the time he fought Weidman the second time he looked a little broken psychologically and broke himself physically as well, and was too old to come back from an injury that serious, not to mention those losses.

silva.gif

Yeah, he never did that before the weidman fight
