"Nowadays it's easy to say that fighting is in my roots, it's raining people who talk about fighting and do not know what they say. So when you go up in the octagon, first look who I am, respect who got there and where I came from. I got there very well, without disrespecting anyone, with much struggle and pride on my chest.
.
So, you, who talk too much, find out first who I am and what I did in this sport.
.
Do many find me arrogant and overbearing? I can be, yes and even more. Not because I was considered the best p4p fighter in the world. No, no, it's my acomplishments, that's what I really did for this sport. I broke barriers all over the world where I fought, Pride, Shooto, Mecca and other events that these speakers have never heard of and do not know what they are like. I am from a different age, when I had no weight limit or time. I really fought for passion, not for money or fame. Falsetrones and frustrated fighters who read this text, I can be arrogant, arrogant and much more than that, I am Anderson Silva, who made and makes a difference in sports.
I'm not afraid and I do not flee fighting, I defended the belt for 10 years, none of the last champions managed to defend for more than 3 fights.
.
So thank you to all who like me and those who do not like, you have to accept that Anderson da Silva is a fact and can not change. I'm the best in the world, yes! To the joy of many and the sorrow of others.
I can only say that we will soon see ourselves in the octagons of life. "

Sorry for the shitty google translate, and fuck yall AS haters.

Who is this directed at? What fighter doesn't respect Anderson Silva?

I who used steroids and lost but somehow "won" my last fight. Have always loved watching the guy fight, but this is a bit much.

Playboy mustache Aldo is the GOAT

IMO it will be near impossible to ever have a GOAT. The sport evolves (training and preparation in general), rules and policies are changed (TRT for instance), competition varies....

However, for those who are interested in this type of discussion, you should IMO try to rank according to a certain time. For instance, IMO AS was the greatest of his time. Definitely had a weak spot in defending takedowns, tried to compensate it with a sharp BJJ, which was effective for YEARS until he fought Chris, also when he was way beyond his prime. Fights that came next were all bs, not worth of anything but only to continue letting us see him fight. He fought DC for Christ' sake, a TOTAL mismatch.

And to be honest, put him against Bisping as of NOW and he will (T)KO him.

I would have really liked to have seen Anderson vs Cung Li.

Hadn't seen this one before...nice.

I will continue to watch his fights. I enjoyed the last one, and thought he won...

Props to Anderson for still sticking in there against top competition at his age...but make no mistake the top 4 cream him. He lost against his best match up (Bisping, high volume tons of opportunities for counter strikes). Jacare, Romero, Weidman (again), and Rockhold take his head clean off.

I think he can stick around just fine against top 5-10 opponents, or maybe super-fights against other older fighters...but I don't want to see the dude killed by Romero or Jacare.

I think A. Silva is one of the most loved fighters on here

Anderson gave us HL's to remember for years to come. I'd miss him when he's gone.

I agree. Staying the hell away from the top 4 is in his best interest. Now that GSP is back, Anderson needs to start campaigning for that fight. It makes the most sense for both fighters.

Soon we'll see ourselves in the octagons of LIFE mothafuckas!
