Great fight, wondering why never happen :(

Anderson was not at Saku's level at the time.
 
Because the itsy bitsy spider would have won anyway

But Sakuraba is a natural Welter, and he face LHWs (Wand, Arona, Rampage, Vitor, Kevin, Little Nog) and HWs (Cro Cop, Igor).

Still believe Japans protect Saku?

Of course not. That is why they sent much better Japanese submission fighters than Sakaraba to tap out the einsy weensy spider and derail his run in the division.

Brilliant way of totally devaluing the Chutebox fighter in Pride to be able to pass the future HOF MMA practitioner to Cage Rage so that Saku's legend could remain in tact!

Anderson wasn't consistent enough in Pride. Prime vs Prime Anderson would absolutely kill Sakuraba though. Different generations.

Anderson wasn't well known, nor was he a can, so Pride had no need for him to fight one of their superstars.
 
Saku was busy fighting big stars like Wandy, Randleman, Cro Cop, Big Nog.

Anderson wasn't even on anyone's radar at the time.
 
Because Anderson wasn't well known when he was in Pride and had as many bad showings as good ones.
 
In Pride Andersen was fighting 170. Sakuraba, who was really a WW, was tapping and smashing 205ers.

Well at the time I don't think Pride had a MW/WW division. I think they were trying to establish one. And Saku only at the LHW division and Anderson was fighting at 170 and 185.
 
Give it a few years, it'll happen in bellator
 
Why would I make a poll for this? To ask who would have won? No thanks. Silva fought at 170 back then and Saku was all over the map.
 
Anderson wasnt on the same level as Saku. And in general Anderson struggled against Japanese fighters. He couldnt even beat Sakus whipping boy of a training partner In Daiju Takase who had a 4-7-1 record at the time and dominated Anderson lmao. Daiju was wearing Sakus trunks when he strangled Anderson tho so Andersons face did get to sniff some of Sakus greatness

Anderson was 1-2 against Japanese fighters in PRIDE and the one win was an extremely close fight against Otsuka that ppl thought Otsuka won.

For his career Anderson is 4-3 against Japanese fighters FWIW lol

well if you watch Saku against Lil nog,they figured the same thing would happen
