I just got back in time to catch the end of that awful main event, what a disaster.

I don’t want to hear any of that “Anderson still fights for the love of the sport” nonsense, the dude is making fat checks $$$ and essentially selling his legacy to do so.

He isn’t even a UFC caliber fighter anymore and that wasn’t a UFC caliber main event.

What say you Sherbros? Is Andy greedily selling his legacy away?

His "legacy" was done after the second PED fail.

That said, he was competitive up until he got caught at the end of that round. He was outlanding Hall.

He can love the sport and the money simultaneously.

I don’t think it’s about money. He’s addicted too competing and fighting. Very hard for some to stop.

Silva has a lot of bills living in an extremely high cost area in South Ca with a family. I'm sure he enjoys the process of training still but money is money.

*Edit* Just looked it up.....bought his home for 1.76 million. Put shit load of money into it expanding it to 7000 sq ft. Put it on the market for 4.9 million(which didn't sell). It's assessed at $4.3 million which means he has to pay about $50,000 a year in just property taxes. Like I said he lives high lifestyle and you will burn through money fast just to go from year to year with taxes, upkeep on home, cars...etc. He has 5 kids and a wife living in a very high cost of living area on the coast. Plus his income taxes from living in California does some damage to his paychecks.

I wanted Hall to win.. but you have to respect Silva for fighting at 45 years old.

I mean, he's way past his prime and to me his legacy is cemented. What's another couple of losses to keep making that Anderson Silva money?

He can't beat top 10 guys but he can hang with them. Thought he won the first 2 rounds vs Hall, and was winning pretty decisively until he got dropped. He can still easily beat unranked fighters but I doubt the UFC is going to pay him a ton of money to do that.

He's cashing out his legacy for sure. His family is pretty big. He's trying to set them up for life.

Wouldn't be the first pro athlete to hang on years past his prime for a paycheck. Not sure why people are acting like this is a new phenomenon. I was watching pro athletes do this for 25 years before I started watching UFC. I will say that MMA fighters are worse about it than anyone else from any sport though. I'm guessing it's because in all other pro sports there's just one major league company whereas in MMA there are multiple promotions who will throw money at anybody whose prime was 10-plus years ago just for name value.

I wish he would’ve retired years ago but it is what it is. These fights don’t really mean all that much.
