I was completely bummed to hear the news about Jones testing positive and his fight being pulled, but the Anderson matchup has taken away the sting somewhat.

HOWEVER

Silva is getting screwed. He has everything to lose and cormier has nothing to lose in this fight. How the hell are you going to enter a last minute fight replacing the TITLE challenger, that was supposed to be a TITLE bout, against the 205 CHAMPION, at 205 where the TITLE IS HELD, and it's NOT FOR THE TITLE???

Anderson should have the ability to win the title. If he wins, he gets a lollipop and a pat on the back meanwhile cormier retains his title. But if Anderson loses, everyone will discount him as washed up.

I don't get it.

Question is, could Anderson even make 205 in time if it was offered to him? There must be a reason he accepted this.

I see it differently. Cormier has everything to lose in this fight.

Anderson once again stuck his neck out for the UFC. If he loses he should probably retire but it is what it is. The guy is 0-3 in his last fights at MW, so it's not looking promising either way. If he is going to take that 4th L at least it was to the champion in the division above his own.

this is a win-win for Anderson lol.

No one expects him to win, but if he does, he is somehow even more legendary than before.

If he loses, well, he was old and just had surgery. Which are both true.

Plus either way he gets a quick payday at that.

Quite the opposite. Anderson has NOTHING to lose and everything to gain from this.

He gets a big payday for this fight, something where a loss means nothing, and he has the chance to become an immortal legend by defeating a dominant LHW Champion.

I swear, Sherbros are all fucking pessimists who see salt on tree tops.

This. I expect him get rag dolled by Cormier, but there is nothing to lose when it comes to taking a fight at the last minute.

Cormier is a -500+ favorite and is still trending as the fighter people are putting more money on... stupid ass thread

It's not a secret people. Anderson has openly stated that he just wants to keep pushing himself and challenging himself.

What bigger challenge than Cormier? There aren't that many fights that are bigger than this for him. The only fights bigger than Cormier would be Jones himself, and some great HWs like Econoreem or Miocic.

If Silva wins does he get an immediate rematch for the title?! wtf

This...

And Anderson signed the contract knowing the details, its not like they tricked him.

Anderson has something to gain, but also some to lose. He should get a bisping rematch before a fight with a stud like DC, so this retirememt talk from a loss against DC removes him further from the mw belt.

DC has nothing to lose. He gets his original payday, and gets to keep his belt regardless along with pocketing a win against someone like Anderson.

Let's use our thinking caps here.

He's going to make a shitload of money in a fight that people don't expect him to have a chance in. And if he wins, he's going to make even more money. This is win/win for him all the way.

DC has a lot to lose. People already consider him a paper champ because he never beat Jones. Can you imagine how much less people will respect his title reign if he also loses to an over the hill middleweight?

Your thinking cap is flawed.

How bad would it be for DC's stock if he lost to a washed-up MW? He has far more to lose. Holding on to a belt isn't everything.

Anderson is a point in his career when a loss to an all time great like DC means nothing.

Or you could take your tinfoil cap off, maybe...

What do you mean DC has nothing to lose? Sure, not his title, but he will surely be embarrassed badly by losing to a guy who lost to Bisping and got dominated by Weidman twice and whose last "win" was a poor showing against a welterweight, and the last actual win before that is from 2012.

And Anderson is not getting screwed. No one forced him to take this fight.

Andy has nothing to lose here. If he wins he would probably get a ts at either mw or lhw
