(Forrest before fighting Silva went 2-1 against Rampage, Shogun and Rashad, and was out landing/working Rashad for two rounds in a good showing before the eventual tko loss in the 3rd)

Then Silva did this, with what looked like no effort

My point being many Anderson haters love to discredit the Forrest win, implying Forrest was never any good/a can.

Justify that please? Are Shogun, Rampage and Rashad cans also? Because they all either lost, or struggled with Forrest?

I think you all need to give Anderson his credit where its due. I don't have him as my GOAT personally, not even second but the hate he gets lately is disgusting. Dude did some amazing things in his career.

Anderson is the GOAT showman, IMO, but apparently Forrest had been knocked out in training camp leading up to the fight, which would explain how easily he was dropped every time Anderson touched him.

Still doesn't account for the beautiful movement Anderson showed in that fight. I 100% believe that Forrest would still have hit the canvas eventuality, had it not happened. Definitely Silva's best performance inside the UFC.

I think it was more having near 100% accuracy, and landing shots to the chin.

    Also he demoralized Forrest.

Leben has a legendary ability to take punishment, and Silva put him out in seconds with accurate shots.

Yeah Anderson could've held the LHW belt.

With how shitty the division is sans-Jones, I wouldn't be surprised if he cracked the top ten there today.

Big Anderson fan - but Forrest style was Taylor made for him.

Anderson would of tooled Rampage too.

I don't agree the division was shit then

Rampage, Shogun, Rashad, Forrest, Chuck, Lyoto etc

But i agree he could have been champion.

Shogun, Rampage, Franklin, Rashad etc were horrible matchups for Forrest also

All had speed, power and technical striking advantages.

Yet Forrest is 3-1 against that crop, and held his own against Shad.

Yeah, then it was good. And he would've smoked most of the men who held the belt before Jones.

And after Jones... Shit man... I'd give him a decent shot against most of the top ten.

I think a lot of people are unforgiving towards Anderson because he is the Lance Armstrong of MMA. They both cheated and lied their whole careers and used other people to gain great success.

I do actually. I have seen many posters completely discredit that win, which I think is ridiculous,e specially given that Forrest at the time was had just lost the LHW belt.

Shogun gassed hard in that fight - Forrest was actually lucky to not have that fight stopped due to that cut.

Also, Shogun absolutely demolished him in the rematch.

If Rampage could check legs kicks he would of won.

Forrest did well against Shad...until he got pounded out.

And Franklin definitely did not have a speed advantage on Forrest, nor was his striking that much better.

Forrest also has more heart and better conditioning than all those guys (excluding maybe Shad in the conditioning dept)

This should be the case, sadly it isn't.

I'm more defending Forrest than anything. People often claim I'm an Anderson nut hugger, Lol no, i respect him but he destroyed a lot of my favorite fighters.

    Forrest, Vitor and Franklin.

I just like to stay level headed and appreciate greatness.

Jones and GSP have better resumes IMO though.

Anderson is top 5 MMA all time though, and he gets treated like shit.

By no means am I a fan of Silva, but the Forrest fight was an insane performance. I think it was a mix of him still being at his peak, Forrest's style being tailor made but also Forrest going through a rough camp as another poster said. Forrest ate heavy shots against Shogun (first fight) and Rampage and still kept on fighting.
