She may be a moron but she's right. Implementing the green new deal would most definitely weaken us economically and militarily which would in turn elevate our rivals comparatively. Just the act of printing that much more debt would put us yet closer to losing the reserve status...its pretty much a matter of time as it is.

Not to mention wind and solar are nowhere near capable of powering a fraction of our countries needs....so yeh blackouts and restrictions would occur.

You know what else weakens you militarily and economically? Having to constantly put your resources to reacting to disasters, instead of taking measures to prevent and lessen their impact before they get here. Having to put more guards and resources to a border, because the effects of climate change will cause MORE "illegal immigration". Having to deal with the effects of more fires and hurricanes and floods.

Republicans say this shit as if there is a choice in the matter. You either get on board with what's coming and prepare for it, or wait for disaster to hit all so that you can keep your short term profits and "protect" yourself from boogiemen.
What war does the United States military need to prepare itself for, and how could that possibly be more important than securing clean water, air, and sustainable energy?

The Republican Party likes to pretend they’re the defenders of freedom and liberty. The reality is their cowards with their heads in the sand, to afraid to role their sleeves up and deal with real problems. There’s a lot of things I don’t like about Democrats but at least they recognize glaring problems that can’t be ignored anymore

The bullshit assumptions in this post run deep. The purpose of the military is to kill people and break things, responding to disasters is secondary. Furthermore disasters are going to happen regardless of whether we ruin our economy with socialist horse shit and fake "green" solutions. It's just that we will be too crippled by enviro-foolishness to effectively respond.

We are not even the worlds biggest polluter, and the one who is, China, is not going change for any of your enviro hand wringing. Neither are the other countries in the top five. In fact if they keep developing then that is almost certainly going to increase. We will cut our own throats with nonsense and they will keep on putting out more and more carbon.

You are also ignoring the fact that the US has significantly declined in it's carbon output. Since 2007, our peak, we have cut emissions by a third. Most of that is due to fracking and using more natural gas. You are welcome.

You can't see the future and neither can the apocalyptic enviro-grifters. So I'm not impressed by the end of the world talk. Boogiemen indeed. Meteors, solar flares, and the Yellowstone calderra might just get us too.
