Amino Acids before cardio

Is it effective or necessary to take AA pills before my morning cardio or any time of day. Basically is it worth the money?
 
I don't think AA pills are worth the money at all.

I'm not sure about the whole BCAA thing, I've just bought a kilo tug and within the last 2 training sessions started using 5g, so will see how it goes
 
How do I use it?

Strength and endurance athletes will benefit from approximately 6g per 70kg mass of EAA ingested immediately prior to and/or during exercise. Alternatively, athletes could choose to consume 0.4g/kg of rapidly digesting protein like whey hydrolysate or whey concentrate/isolate. For further benefit add 0.8g/kg carbohydrate to enhance the recovery effects of these amino acids.

Yes, BCAA's help but it sounds like taking a whey drink eliminates the need to take BCAA's peri-workout. Whey contains fairly high concentrations of BCAA
 
so if my whey shakes have a good amount of BCAA( I use GNC 100% whey) then i should probably have a protein shake in the morning before cardio but will that take away from the fat burning effects of cardio on an empty stomach?
 
Whey is in-and-out of your system in about 20 minutes. So it shouldn't be a problem.

But I use a carb matrix with BCAA's pre-workout, just in lower concentration. I don't like drinking shakes pre-workout, makes me feel sluggish.
 
I'm a big advocate of NOT training on an empty stomach, but without getting into that debate... My opinion is no. Taking a whey shake won't sabotage your fat burning.

Actually it could. Theoretically taking any calories prior to a workout would allow your body to use them as fuel rather than stored fat. This could be countered by the efficacy of protein being used as a fuel source (which there's hardly any efficacy where that's concerned), but few people take protein only with no carbs. The carb content of a protein shake could interfere. It's a tricky thing.
 
So bottom line, are "mixed amino acids" pills (not specifically BCAAs) a waste of money?
 
I honestly don't know if they are a waste of money in all situations. It seems to me that anyone on a high protein diet which includes protein from multiple sources wouldn't have a need for them. In that case, I feel they are a waste at least for the majority of people.

Strictly BCAA's I think have more uses, especially when it comes to dieting and calorie restrictions. I think in most other situations they wouldn't have much benefit either as long as you're consuming quality sources of protein. Just my opinion though.
 
i like L-glutamine, but the shit is expenisve. Great stuff tho
