First off let me say that this isn't an 'let's insult Americans' thread.

It really confuses me when American audiences shout and scream and clap at press conferences when there isn't any need to.

In most places, the audience will sit and listen to what the fighters have to say when asked a question and then clap or cheer when it's appropriate. But American audiences don't seem to be there to listen to any of that, they just want to scream and shout things at the fighters.

I doubt that any of you actually have an answer for why this is, but it's something to talk about anyway.

It's almost as if there's something in the water in America that makes you guys really hyper.

Excitement and happiness I'd say mixed with large amounts of alcohol

as an american i've never really understood it much either, i think maybe some people do it just as a sign of approval?

as a true American (Ex President) I can say this is pretty accurate, however I would add that some MMA fans here in the states are.. how do I say this (hmmmm) thee just Bleed fan !!!

Maybe it's the rest of you that are the crazy ones.

Because we're free to do as we please, unlike you frou frou PC socialist Europeans.

We're Americans. We won WW1, WW2 and will win ww3. We invented the missionary position and super sized fast food meals. We can do whatever we want and everyone else has to accept it.

'Murica.

Being an American, Id probably rather get a little buzz and party a little bit if Im going to be spending the money and taking the time. Not during interviews though

But yeah, I think Id stay here vs the creepy quiet arenas in Japan or the generally unsportsman arenas in Brazil

Typically the 'audience' at a press conference is the media, not sure if its even open to the public.
Also, its usually the same media no matter which country the conference is held.
So your problem isn't with America (it probably really is tho) but with the press.
And I'm not even American

Why is it alright for Brazilian fans to boo every non Brazilian fighter, yet if anything even remotely close happens like that in USA or Canada, they are considered dirt bag countries on here. Why do Euro and Latin American soccer fans kill each other over matches? Why cant American fans shut up during a press conference? Who the hell knows.
