People pick sides. Its what we do. Look at the kind of shenanigans that break out during sporting events when groups of people are cheering for different teams.
You mean the guy who was born California, went to ASU, and is married to a white girl girl? In case this is news, we are ALL from some place else, unless you're Native American. He's Mexican by origin but American by citizenship. So yeah, he's a Mexican-American champion. However, he's an American on the books.
