Out of nowhere AMD introduced an amazing AR/VR headset. No word on price but the specs are impressive.

AMD FX-8800 R7 APU with 8 gigs of ram and a 256 gigabyte SSD drive. The screen display is 2560×1200 combined display resolution. It has the ability to except external HTMI or send HDMI signal. It has 2 cameras that are used to track your position in full room scale freedom. The cameras are also used to send live video to be overlay with computer graphics.

Apparently the performance is just like a step up from the gearVR.

The fact that it's self contained and untethered is interesting though.

I agree performance wise but the fact that it is full 9 DOF is huge to me and I hear Google is rushing to get that tech working with project tango. Somehow they use the stereo optics to track your position in the room as well as having the standard set of positional sensors. It also is full augmented reality vs on Gear VR that only offers monoscopic view. To this date I don't know why Samsung has not done stereoscopic with their camera setups on a higher end S7.

Live demo pretty amazing.
