Has anyone been to an Amazon Fresh?
There is nothing special about the store itself. It's a less good version of a typical grocery store. Where it excels though is with check out. All of the items have barcodes on them even down to bunches of bananas. Instead of just going to a cashier or a self check out where you have to scan your items though, you just walk out. Amazon "knows" how much to charge you based on the bar codes. It's not perfect. I was not charged for a few smaller items. I'm guessing because the barcode was obscured or damaged in some way. IMO, once this becomes more accurate though, this will be the future of retail. You will do some kind of sign in when you enter the store. Then you will just walk out the store with your items. No going to the cashier. No scanning anything at a self check out machine.
