It's more likely that he wouldn't have had as much time and energy to make Amazon excel if he had to spend his time doing dishes and ironing clothes and buying groceries and cooking meals and doing laundry and going dating. Not to mention the extra money he was able to put back into Amazon at the early stages since he didn't have to spend that money on dating or therapy or hookers or meth any of the other shit he may have spent his money on without her being there to support him through the hard times.

If she had called it off, she wouldn't deserve a thing. Or if she was some dumb floosy who was only with him for money.
