i have 3 questions
1. can most people do more dips or chin/pull ups.

i want to know cause i can do about 8 chin ups and 13 dips in one set but my freind can do 10 pull ups but only 7 dips

2. who do you think is more unusual
3. and which group of muscles do you think would help more in a fight..
the chin up muscles- biceps, back
or the dip muscles- triceps, chest, shoulders

Generally speaking, the average person can do more dips than they can do chins/pull-ups. There is no "rule" about it, especially since there will be a very large range of what people will count as a pull-up or dip.

You are both unusual for worrying about it.

That depends on how big your e-penis is.

1. Dips > Pull-ups/Chins

2. ?

3. Neither. Your brain is most important.

Teh purple is no more.

1. dips
2. no, different people have different strength
3. that's a stupid question.

Generally people can do more dips than pull ups. Makes sense as triceps are bigger muscles by a 3:2 factor over biceps...ofcourse limb length, muscle fiber composition, training experience, injuries,etc...can change this phenomenon...

dont worry so much about how much u or your friend can do....if u keep progressing then that's all that matters....

Neither, your butt is most important because that's where all your power comes from.

1. I can do more than twice as many dips as real chins.
2. You're more unusual for asking.
3. Trigger finger.

I can do more dips than chinups. I think chinups are probably going to help you with wrestling more than dips will.. I dont think doing more chinups than someone that does more dips than you is going to make you a better fighter, though.

dips are easy to not go all the way down and then think it is a rep, where as pullups are fairly obvious. i would venture to guess most average lifters in a family gym do not go all the way down on a dip. not knocking going down half way or whatever suits your fancy, but it can be easy to do half dips without knowing it. doing half pull ups is very obvious.

I can do more pull-ups, substantially. When I first got into weightlifting I could do 15-20 chin ups and maybe 3 dips. The year before that I could do like 5-10 shin ups and no dips.

I think in Bas Rutten's street fighting DVD he said that dips are the most important upper body movement for fighting, they help with punching power and pushing the head down during sprawls.

When it comes to fighting, however, skill reminds the victor. I've seen strong guys muscle their way into submissions.
