So long story short, hyperextended my right elbow during a match. Was stupid and didn't tap, used the hitchhiker escape but my elbow paid the price. Very dumb move. Didn't think it was that bad so i continued training. Finally went to the doc and he convinced me to stop training for a while and rest it.

Well it sucks not training and its killing me. I tried light rolling but i continued hurting myself.

So i have been off for a while now and hopefully after my next appointment I will get cleared but it really blows not training :(

Am I doing the right thing by just resting? it feels like i'm missing out on a ton of training time.

You're doing the right thing. It's tough sitting out to let things heal but look at it this way. If you don't let it heal and really injure it badly, you'll be out for far longer. Just suck it up and do other things like running\biking until it's better.

These types of injuries don't get better if you keep using it. In fact, in some cases you can make it worse. So, yes, you're doing the right thing.

Well, there's a right way and a wrong way to train while injured.

It helps if you're experienced, but even if you're not you can still show up and do some drilling. Unless I have an injury which is so bad it significantly impairs me or one that is potentially dangerous, I'll at least try to do something, however light.

I was out for about three months this year because I was stupid with an ankle injury. If I got the same injury would I still train on it? Yes, but I wouldn't try to grit through an ankle lock like a fucking moron

No, you are doing the right thing you can only do what you can do. Just see if you can drill techniques or do some solo drills. Nobody want to get injured but sometimes it just happens. Focus on getting better ice, heat and ibuprofen.
