I will never understand why commissions allow this nonsense of extremely young fighters being allowed to fight. You're brain isn't fully developed until your mid twenties, so just imagine how bad the repercussions will be for a 40 year old fighter who has been hard sparring/fighting since he was a teen.

It's dumb and it's irresponsible, and quite frankly, anybody who condones this wreckless behaviour is a grade A scumbag, in my book.

The notion of brain being "fully developed" by mid 20s isn't exactly as urgent for early 20s fighters as, say, preventing the stunting of a pre-pubescent kid by discouraging weight lifting or contact sports lest he get an injury or something...

There are levels to it, plus the body starts to deteriorate by the early 30s. Get em while they're young (18-23)

Jon Jones world champion at 23....
Gardbrandt fighting for a title at 25....
Paige Van Zant sorta good looking at like 22 or some shit

Damn! that kind of talk will get someone's daughter beaten on the way to school

Wtf are you doing on sherdog and in the fighting discussion? Da fuck outta here princess troll.

Mike Tyson stands over Trevor Berbick as he becomes heavyweight champion at 20.

Get yo fruity ass outta here TS

I think 18 is the right number to get a license...

Manny Pacquiao started fighting at 11... At 16 he had like 20 pro fights... That can't be good at all...

They'd be sparring anyway..........so stopping them fighting isn't going to achieve much

At age 18 you can:

Go to WAR
Prison
Get married
Do porn
Strip

GTFO TS

go to a human rights forum

this is a fight forum

But other sports like football is fine because concussions are fine if the sport is main stream enough.

What you are saying is reasonable, yet 26 tends to be in most sports the prime years for performing, where the athlete has already built. younger than 18 is dangerous and too far for professional fighting. but over that might just be good to build a career slowly. Then its a matter of responsible matchmaking not to throw a green young fighter with a more matured and experienced fighter.

You're a fucking retard. Plenty of people do responsible and amazing shit by the time they're 26, get out of here with that junk science. Prohibiting someone from even sparring until they're 26 is taking a large chunk of their careers away from them.
