Just noticed Fabio's team isn't repping Alliance at the NY Open

Is he on his own now?

I don't have any inside information but when I was looking at the brackets for Pans I saw Zata was registered under Checkmat, I assumed that it was just some sort of mistake but maybe it wasn't.

Fabio is the man! Best of luck to him and Babs!

Fabio and Babs are great guys and I wish them the best of luck. The article said something about no monthly fees "There's no monthly fees. It's something more evolutionary and not about the money." I wonder how they plan to generate money maybe pay per class? I have heard through the gripe vine that there will be some type of affiliation with Checkmat but maybe that is only temporary.

I think when they mean "no fees" they are talking about association fees. Students will still be paying monthly memberships.

alliance seems to be going the way of GB making everyone wear their gear and i guess ranked rash guards

Is Inverted Panda GI designer one of Fabio student?

no idea but i remember seeing hilary witt with one on when she was training at alliance NYC like two years ago.
Not that i am a stalker. i just like to keep abreast of things.

The article mentioned that the whole team was wearing inverted pandas gi.

then you mentioned the Alliance official gi stories.

And I suspect that the designer must be close to this gym.

Can definitely confirm that Alliance is implementing a mandatory gi scheme. A buddy of mine who was considering affiliating (and who had personally trained for several months at Alliance HQ in SP) was furious about the whole thing at first, but seems to have relented and affiliated with Alliance anyhow. From what I gathered, the affiliates don't benefit monetarily AT ALL from the sales of the gis, it's a money grab for HQ.

if you look at any FB pics lately you will see everyone in an official gi and in offical ranked rash guards.

Keiko sponsors alliance. which i mean to take that keiko gives money to alliance in some way, while alliance makes you buy keiko raca gis.

Do you know when the mandatory gi thing is supposed to be starting? Because I've seen pics from a bunch of different Alliance academy's with guys not wearing official Alliance gi's.

I think it's being implemented currently, but definitely for new affiliates. They have to sign on to the program.

It would be so sick if bjj journalists learned basic journalism skills like "asking follow up questions".

It's coming, when Fabio is ready to release an official statement, we will be the first to break the news.
