I will be in Paris next week. I was wondering if anyone has ever been to alliance Bjj in france. Should I call them ahead of time or should I just drop in?

The big problem is, I don't speak any French. I am willing to try though.

Anyone here from france that trains there?

"Je suis American. (point to your gear). Jiu jitsu?"

    That should do the trick.

I just was in France for 3 weeks this summer, several days in Paris. You not speaking any French will not be an issue at all. More often then not if you try your crappy French out they will switch over to English.

I have trained at Alliance Paris, and will likely train there again in a couple months when I'm back on that side of the pond. I wrote them an email before showing up (check their website). There was a 10 euro mat fee, and the instructor - Paulo Sergio - is a very experienced Brazilian black belt. Obviously, english skills vary by the person, but there were several students at the gym who were fully bilingual and were thus able to serve as translators when needed (Paulo Sergio does not speak much english, and despite dating a French citizen for the past 4 years, I still speak terrible French). Definitely worth your time if you have an interest in some training while you're in Paris.

I trained for a year in France. Not speaking French will not be an issue.
