With Hendricks likely to be forced to move to middleweight, let's have a look at Gastellum, Lineker and Rumble. They all have at least as much success as before in their current weightclass. Cerrone is also doing great at 170. So, why do fighters keep insisting of doing the hardest weightcut possible when it is obvious that it's not always the best solution?

Because they'll have a height, reach and strength advantage over smaller opponents who are naturals in the weight class.

Masvidal has also been doing well since he moved up to welterweight.

It seems that losing those advantages is more than compensated by having less weight to cut. I'd understand if they were getting smashed and manhandled at higher weight, but that's not what we see.

It's good to see all these guys doing well at a more natural weight. It seems those who cut massive weight are really just punishing themselves for avoiding more difficult opponents. Maybe it's part of a self-loathing process.

Renan Barao still looked like shit after moving up to FW. Justin Scoggins lost in his BW debut.
