most people like going 'down the pub'
infact, for most
the pub is a central part of sport life

we watch 'the footie; there
in the states there are even 'sport bars'
"where 'ya watchin' tha game?"
images

(probably here)

and what self-respecting pub doesn't have
a pool table, a scrabble set
and most importantly
a darts board

yes, darts is the king of sports
it's been "around since viking times"

----------------------------
what IS confuse
is why "motorsports" are called sports
isn't it just driving fast?
that's not a sport imo

but they need skill and reaction speed said:
Reason why MotorSport is not a sport #2: Just because elite drivers are in top shape, it doesn’t make driving a sport.

Elite drivers have top-notch reaction times, low body fat, good strength and can maintain life-or-death concentration for hours on end. They’re very impressive in that regard. But despite what MotorSport fans constantly claim, none of those things makes them sportspeople. Brain surgeons exhibit similar levels of concentration, and people who stack cups have top level reactions too, but that doesn’t make brain surgery or cup stacking a sport… no matter how awesome they are.

like...
you can argue that a cow is a horse
but it's not
a horse is a horse
motor"sports" are not sports
it's just fast driving

I enjoy drinking.

you can't drink and drive
well, you can
but you shouldn't

what sort of sport is that?!?!

isn't a big part of sports the after-game social?

there's something wrong with a sport
where you're not allowed to drink
perhaps if drinking was allowed it'd become interesting
i'd grant it extreme sport status
Drink-drive-3.jpg

there's risks involved then...

but as it stands
darts is numero uno

If you consider Darts and Pool a sport, but not any type of racing...well...

I just don't know what to tell you

I'd like to see how a professional billiard or dart player handles 6 g's twice in a 6 second span.

how would a linebacker?
does that mean that astronaughtting and fighter pilotting is a sport?
fitness =/= equal sport
neither does skill
they are parts but not exclusive

Pretty well considering they deal with 5g-6g all the time and they actually have to be in shape.
So if fitness or skill does not equal a sport, darts require skill and what again to be a sport?

this is supposed to be a celebration of pub sports
why are you coming in here to argue about non-sports like car racing?

darts has been considered a sport since viking ages
that's not whats being questioned here
its motor-racing

i wont rehash the link posted earlier
but essentially
motor "sports" is "who can drive the fastest car" the fastest
undoubtedly there is skill and precision and fitness
there's skill, precision and fitness in many jobs, pastimes and even entertainment
doesn't make them sports

KEY ELEMENTS OF SPORTS
1) actively engaging
one or more opponents on
2) a level playing field
the winner is determined
3) directly by the ability
and performance of the participants
4) against the clock or scoreboard.

driving sports do not fulfil 2 or 3
you could even argue that it doesn't fulfil 1
whereas even less interesting things like curling do
(as driving is a passive activity)

also, in what sport can men and women compete against each other?!
motor"sports"

anyway
back to celebrating pubsports!
jopin in if your nota hater
(or dilusional about motor"sports")

Michael van Gerwen beats Gary Anderson to win PDC World Darts Championship
_93211039_michaelvangerwen.jpg

The world number one won 7-3 at the Alexandra Palace in a match that contained 42 180s, a record for a single darts match.
Scotland's Anderson, winner in 2015 and 2016 broke the Van Gerwen throw to lead the favourite 2-1 after three sets.
But Van Gerwen won 12 of the next 13 legs and, despite an Anderson rally, the Dutchman hit bullseye to seal it.

He first threw for the match at 6-2 up, but was interrupted by a spectator who invaded the stage and lifted the trophy.

Anderson went on to take that set, but Van Gerwen closed it out in the 10th to pick up the £350,000 prize money.
"I worked really hard for this all year through," he added. "I've got great support from my family and this means a lot to me. This feels phenomenal."
As two of the world's top four, Van Gerwen and Anderson automatically qualified for the Premier League, which begins in February, alongside Peter Wright and Lewis.
