Just looked up Alistair Overeem on fight finder, and it turns out that the guy has more wins via submission than via knockout.

Surprising from a guy with such a STRONG K1 pedigree

He's always had great subs too. His guillotine is nasty. He won the European trials for the ADCC.

He's actually a complete fighter. Even scarier is the fact that he's world class at all of his skills.

Reem is really good. Sadly he has a ton of haters on here, but then again so do a lot of great fighters.

Yeah he seems to have strong TDD and a great clinch game. And he's now training with the Blackzilians, so he's getting great wrestling and BJJ instruction there, no doubt

He's good, probably #1 or 2 HW, but he's not a world class sub guy. C'mon now.
2005 European ADCC trials=3 blue belts half his size.

But if you consider the current Overeem (fighting style and weight division), it's a little bit like if his career started 5 years ago, hence the "striker" sticker that we usually put on him.

Yeah not that huge of news Reem is good everywhere always has been, but that's even if he wants it on the ground he's got some good TDD

the only hole i would say in overeem's armor is maybe his gas tank and perhaps his chin. but he hasn't really lost in a while so its hard to argue those things as factors.

no but seriously, you only noticed this now??? :icon_neut

btw this seems to be the case with a lot of guys with strong striking pedigree. many of them have more sub wins than tko/ko wins. too lazy to list them sorry. others with strong wrestling backgrounds, have more wins via tko/ko than lay n pray decision like Hendo.

Most of his subs are from when he was competing at 205lb. His guillotine and clinch work might be better now because he's gotten so much bigger, but his grappling stills probably diminished quite a bit considering his size.

Direct quote from Joe Rogan. I spot a fanboy right here.

If you mean belt color he's been a black belt for a long time.

Keep in mind that article was from before Jones subbed Vitor too, lol

Trying to find better sources, google isn't being very helpful atm. Searching for anything with Overeem and BJJ just comes up with a bunch of shit talking from Frank Mir about how Lesnar was going to clown Reem.
