Media Ali - 30-0.

Not a physical prime for any athlete though
You can definitely be in your physical prime in your early 30s. Genetics play a big role, as does damage. A lot of people also get physically stronger in their 30s-early 40s, which can offset the lack of speed or explosiveness. This is a sport where you only need to peak 2-4 times a year too, which makes it easier to stay in peak performance in your 30s and sometimes early 40s depending on the person

If Khabib does come back for one more fight, the GSP fight makes sense. Might be to late though for GSP now. Beating Khabib in his prime when you are almost 40 years old is a real LONG shot!

he's just predicting khamzat's record in a year......

Ali is saying this because Gaethje practicaly got subbed at the end of round 1 and 2 but was saved by the bell in round 1. So Khabib was 28-0 going into the Gaethje fight and is arguably 30-0 immediately after it.

Or maybe Islam's delay in LW champ trajectory due to illness makes Khabib feel he can do one more fight before passing the torch?

Pretty sure he’s just trying to take attention away from Conors fight being announced

he was 32 years old, you're in almost prime shape, and you are for sure in your prime as a fighter ( skill lvl and experience ).
GSP was a clearly diminished version of himself when he stepped away. After the ACL surgery, he didn't have the same explosion and his cardio was noticeably worse. Even if he hadn't suffered the knee injuries, the reality is that he spent 7 straight years preparing for 5-round fights. It's highly unlikely that any fighter will be in his prime after that kind of mileage. Throw on a major knee surgery and, yes, he was out of his prime. I'm not even a GSP fan, per se, but there's no real debate here.

I guess half fighters in the UFC r out of their primes too then ... almost athlete suffers major injuries, it doesn't mean they r out of their primes...
