It's one of those fights where it would be depressing if werdum loses cause he is all around a much better fighter but he's got to start showing his age at some point. He has still lokked pretty good in his last two fights so I'm gonna go with him. He's still got good striking, obviously great ground game, and probably the best cardio in hw with Cain out. He's also got a solid chin, but then again he's 40

Werdum first round sub imo Volkov has terrible wrestling, hell I thought he was soundly defeated by Tim Johnson in their fight horrible decision anyone who has seen that fight knows.

That is actually a winnable fight for volkov, he is prone to getting taken down but Werdum isn't exactly elite at getting people down to the mat. Usually he has the reach on people so they have to get inside and that's when he gets the clinch and goes for trips or pulls guard but that wouldn't be the case against Volkov.

I'm guessing Volkov wins a decision or late tko but if it hits the ground it will be over quickly.

Basically I would say Werdum.
But I know that they have trained together, and a lot. Basically Volkov's tight guard is Werdum's gift, before that he got submitted left and right.

I dont really see anything special about Volkov. He's solid sure but we've seen him outgrappled more than once by far worse guys than Werdum. Beating up Nelson and Stuve doesnt prove much to me.

Even striking I think Werdum has the edge.

I have Volkov.
His striking is scary, he uses reach well, good timing, technique and
he trains with K-1 GOAT Shilts.

Looks like he improves his grappling defence as well.

I have Volkov by TKO rnd 2, unless he fucks up and gives Werdum takedown.
