Alex “The Brazilian Killa” Stiebling

I really enjoy having this fightfinder tool on sherdog. It makes it simple to research a fighter’s background when you may otherwise have limited data on a fighter. I was looking at Alex Stiebling today and I saw he was a PRIDE FC veteran with the nickname “The Brazilian Killa”, with a moniker like that you would believe he was a monster.

Yet I saw Stiebling’s biggest win was Joe Riggs. He had some noteworthy losses to Mark Hughes, Anderson Silva, Marvin Eastman, Little Nogueira, Chael Sonnen, and Ninja Rua. So old PRIDE FC faithful who did see him fight, how good was he?

From what I remember he was a pretty cocky dude who gave himself his nickname to piss off Brazilians, kind of like a pre-Chael/Colby gimmick. I can really only remember his fight with Anderson Silva and I don't remember him being that impressive.

IVC tournaments back in the day were quite highly regarded and he demolished several Brazilians in one of the later (much weaker in hindsight) ones. He won the IVC tournament that was marketed as USA vs Brazil.

Also Goes and Ismail were legit fighters held in high regard and good wins at the time.

Yeah he was brought in to lose to Ninja. He got the nickname by winning the IVC tourney -- which was a USA vs Brazil tourney -- then beating Goes and Ismael in Pride.

Seems like it was very well-deserved when he got it, and you don't just lose that because you later lose to a few Brazilians. Especially since he was put against top of the food chain Brazilians on account of his nickname, like Anderson and Little Nog. How bitch would that be to just go "aw well guess I'm not the 'Brazilian Killa' anymore.. damn" after losing to those two guys, two of the best guys in the world? Lol that'd be super bitch.

If anyone forgot. The fight was stopped shortly after that kick due to doctor stoppage, he had about a 4 inch gash along his forehead. Tough motherfucker though, he wanted to fight.
