Aleksei Oleinik giving hope to old grapplers once again

And as if Oleynik couldn't get any cooler after that.

Minutes later:

interesting that he uses his chin to force the opponents head/neck into position. He really seemed to emphasize that.

I've been trying to do that ever since I saw it on a Sakuraba instructional. I think this entry will solve a lot of my problems.

Very cool. No-gi ezekiel choke, another move I initially dismissed as bullshit Lol

Meanwhile Aleksei can land it on heavyweights even from under mount!

It's like Oleinik has built his career on stuff that seems low percentage Haha

You just know he annoys everybody at his gym by landing this all the time

I remember Josh Barnett getting it on Dean Lister in Metamoris years ago

"Bullshit big guy move," I said. Totally in denial Lol

I love that move.

Now we have more examples to point to when you're trying to explain that it is, in fact, legit.

I saw the Barnett match and started trying it, after working out details, I use it often.

Loved seeing it last night. It's a crushing move

You can't wait to escape this position when it's locked on... you're too late. this move is legit and if the guy is strong and has it locked in, you're in real trouble

What I don't understand is, how he didn't get his back instantly taken and isn't still alseep on the canvas a day later. I thought the internet was right about everything.

Turns out the internet was actually right all those times it said "just wait until you run into someone who's actually good at scarfhold".

Josh Barnett has an instructional on bjjfanatics covering this technique. I plan to pick it up (going through his toe hold instructional now).

Such a great technique to slow down those twenty somethings when my 40 year old out of shape ass needs a breather during a roll :)

Particularly when you throw directly into scarfhold and then wrap up the chest compression right away.

Truth! I'm 50 year old brown belt and weigh in around 155-158 and use this move probably more than I should. It'll take the fight right out of young aggressive newbs Lol

By the time I leave this gym nobody should ever get caught in a scarfhold again....

Bjj Bluebelts "Scarfhold exposes your back"
Me (200lb 40 year old Wrestler, Judoka, also BJJ Bluebelt) "heh heh, Kesa make youngling no breathe no more"

Such a historic match; and to this day still erroneously listen as a 'neck crank'.
(Not that there's anything thing wrong with winning by neck crank of course, but Mark clearly was not going for the can-opener variation here.)

You can see that the moment Coleman lifted Dan's shoulders and his own hips off the ground, and the pressure started going through through the diaphragm, Severn instantly started panicking.
